In this world, there were the gifted and the non-gifted. Raheem Sterling, my best friend, belonged to the gifted group. He excelled in football, basketball, and track and field, consistently showcasing his extraordinary talents. It seemed like he was a natural-born king of sports.
On the other hand, I belonged to the non-gifted category. I couldn't perform in sports to save my life. My name is Daymeonn McKenzie, and this is the story of how my best friend and I became a part of the legendary 10.
"Lacrosse is often called a rip-off of football, but how can it be a rip-off when it produces such talents, such gods? Look at Mika Johnson, for example. She's the first high school student to play for a club region at the age of 18, and she's scored 29 goals since she started," Raheem Sterling, a Trinity First Year student and my best friend, remarked enthusiastically.
"I see you really love lacrosse, don't you?" I asked, curious about his passion.
"Yes, I do. And it's not just her. Joshua Lakwa, the man with the highest goal count since Brandon Hunter, stands at 63 goals, while Mr. Hunter, who's still playing lacrosse, has a goal count of 57."
"Wait, did you say 'Keekee'?"
"Yes, she's the new coach for the school. I can't wait to meet her, you know."
We all filed into the auditorium and took our seats. A man walked up to the stage and introduced himself, "Welcome, first years. I'm the principal for this school, Karl Jackson. I hope you all have a great school year. With that said, I have a very special guest who would love to speak to you all."
TEP! TEP! TEP! A young woman in her early 20s walked onto the stage. She had short brown hair, black eyes, and was wearing a short black skirt and a white long-sleeve shirt with the top two buttons open.
"No way."
"Is that Keekee?"
"Damn, she's pretty."
"Not to mention sexy."
"I can't believe she's here in front of me. Didn't she used to come to this school too?"
"Oh, so that's Keekee," I thought to myself. "She's younger than I thought."
"Don't tell me you didn't know what she looks like, D-man," Raheem teased.
"What gave you that idea?"
"Your reaction."
I chuckled. "Oh, should I have said, 'Oh my God, I can't believe it's Keekee,' while clutching my chest?"
"Relax, dude. Don't mock her or her fans."
"Right."
"Alright, everyone, please be quiet," Mika Johnson, also known as Keekee, the world's #1 female lacrosse player, called for our attention.
"My name is Mika Johnson, and you may know me as Keekee. Today, and from now on, I will be your lacrosse coach."
Raheem gave me a nudge. "See, see, I told you, didn't I?"
"You did."
"Huh? Raheem is acting differently. She is his hero, after all," I mused silently.
"When I was going to school here, I was taught to play lacrosse by the world's greatest coach. Unfortunately, we didn't win, and we didn't even make it far in the U-20 School Cup. But I'm here now to change that. We will go to the finals and win. So please, if you're interested in lacrosse, please join."
TEP! TEP! TEP! She turned around and walked off the stage.
"Do you really think they can win the U-20 School Cup?" the principal asked.
"No, I don't. I know they can win with my help. We will show this world that Trinity isn't just good in football and netball or in academics," Mika confidently asserted.
"Are you going to join?" I asked Raheem.
"Nah, what about you?"
"Yeah, dude."
"No way."
"It's going to be too hard for me."
"But wait, isn't lacrosse a rip-off of football?"
Raheem got up fast, ready to react, but I held him back and forced him to sit back down. "Chill out."
"!?"
"Let's not fight over this now. Let's go to class."
The school bell rang, and Raheem and I walked out of the class. "Aren't you going to join too?" Raheem asked me.
"Hmm, nah. I'm not good at sports, remember?"
"Who knows? Maybe this one is for you."
"Let me guess, you want my company?"
"Yes."
"Don't worry; I'll wait for you. Speaking of waiting, where's the lacrosse gym, anyway?"
"They did say it's the new big one," Raheem replied.
It took us some time, but we eventually found the gym.
"Wow, it's huge," I marveled.
"I know," Raheem agreed.
We pulled open the door and stepped inside, immediately drawing the attention of everyone present.
Mika walked in from a room. "Welcome to the lacrosse gym. The field is out back. We'll be using this area for training and the outside for practical sessions."
I walked over to the right corner while everyone gathered in the center of the gym. Mika noticed me and approached.
"Aren't you joining lacrosse too?" she asked.
"Oh, no."
"Why not?"
"Because I'm not like my parents. I'm bad at sports. Really bad."
"Who are your parents?" Asked Mika
"Rihanna Mckenzie and Nathaniel Mckenzie."
Everyone turns around and looks at him "wait what."
"Did you hear that he's their son."
"No way he must be lying."
"I'm saying."
"Your parents are them the current world's best football and netball players." said Mika
"Yes." Daymeonn answered
So that explains why his eyes are like that the moment i saw him in the Auditorium something was bothering me Mika thought to herself.
"No matter if your bad please join for now atleast."
"Yea come on bro." said Raheem.
"Fine." he walks over to where the others are
"So as I was saying there are 50 of you and u will training all of you but only 10 can be on my field with 4 subs."
"So go home get some rest tomorrow is gonna be hell and bring some clothes to train in too."
