Chapter 55 - I need a Doctor

Wei Huoran was standing on a construction site on the northern side of the island. A welcome center was in process of being built in anticipation of more guests arriving from the Shou continent. As he stared at the sea, and scanned the horizon for some expected visitors. After five minutes of waiting, several indistinguishable objects appeared in sky, and Huoran turned to the crowd of people behind him, "Our visitors have arrived, I will receive them and guide the patient and his escorts to the hospital. You will register the remaining guests, arrange their housing, and then bring them to the hospital as well."

"Yes, Boss Wei", the team of cultivators responded.

"Also send the salvage teams out to collect as much of the wreckage of ships and corpses of magical beasts as possible", Huoran commanded.

Twenty minutes later, fifteen eagles landing on the beach in front of Huoran.

"Welcome Daoist Greymane, I'm surprised to see you return so quickly. I hope we were able to assist you in your time of need", Huoran greeting the wolf and bowed.

"Daoist Wei, we are thankful for your assistance and beg your forgiveness for arriving unexpectedly", Greymane replied.

"Have you come to visit and experience the island, or is there another purpose in your arrival?", Houran asked.

"We have brought our Pack Leader here in the hopes that we can find an antidote to the poison that's slowly killing him", Greymane explained.

The other wolves looked suspiciously at Huoran, but since witnessing the firepower of the island and receiving instructions from Greymane, they held back the words they might have said.

"Daoist Wei, let me introduce you to one of the shamans of our pack. This is Shaman Thunderclaw, he has been looking over our leader since the alpha was poisoned", Greymane pointed to the shaman.

"Shaman Thunderclaw, welcome to Sun & Moon island, I believe that we should move quickly so how about we continue this discussion while we move your leader. I invite you and Daoist Greymane to ride along with me, as we transport the patient to our treatment center", Huoran offered.

"I accept you proposal, Daoist Wei", Thunderclaw agreed.

"Daoist Greymane, please assign one of your own to cooperate with my team to arrange rooms for all your people. Please remind them that they are guests here and if they have issues with this, they will be surpressed and given to you for judgement", Huoran reminded Greymane.

"Yes, I remember, please give me moment to organize everything and we can leave", Greymane replied.

The wolf walked over to his group and briefed his subordinates, before several activities were set inputs motion. Greymane and Thunderclaw carried a humongous wolf over to Huoran, while a couple wolves spoke to Huoran's team.

"Please bring him to this flying ship and sit down", as Huoran informed the wolves, two men stood by the bed the leader was laying on inside the medical transport vehicle and activating arrays, "these men are emergency medical workers, and they are using array formations that will keep the patient in place and slowly attempt to neutralize the poison and increase the patients vitality."

Thunderclaw was flabbergasted, "you can do all that with arrays?"

"We can many things but not everything with will work because the strength of your leader and the severity of the poison. If you have brought any spiritual plants or herbs with you we can use those to increase our chances of success", Huoran told them, "but not right now, we will ask you when it's necessary."

The vehicle rose of the ground, activated its lights and sirens, and flew towards the hospital.

King Zeng had returned to his palace and was on his throne as advisors were ran in and out of the room.

"Sire", one advisor approached the throne and bowed, "The generals have finished counting the casualties from the attack from the island and there is good news and bad news."

Zeng looked at the advisor for a few months before saying, "What is taking so long, just say it!"

The advisor shuddered before speaking, "The good news is that most of our army was untouched due to being under the surface. The bad news is that ninety percent of the flood dragons that joined us from the Draco Serpentus kingdom are dead and we couldn't retrieve any of the bodies."

Zeng sat back on the throne, he knew what trouble this would bring him. Those flood dragons were juniors that had volunteered to help to fight and gain experience. Even if a few died, the Dracos would cause some trouble, but with only ten percent of them alive and no way to return the bodies, he might have to go to war with the Draco kingdom. They prided themselves of their strength, and if they found out so much of their bloodline was gone, they would definitely attack.

'I have to think of a way out of this, a war will weaken the both of us and allow the turtles or whales the opportunity to profit', he considered, 'I need to pin this on the owner of the island and let those damned snakes attack instead.'

"Your Majesty!", a messenger's voice broke his train of thought.

"Guards! How did this random hooligan breach the palace so easily?", Zeng roared, "Take him away and don't let anyone else disturb me unless it's really important."

The messengered wailed, "But sire, the surviving flood dragons can't be found. We believe they left and returned home already."

Old Mo finally saw home port in the distance as his ship limped along, heavily damaged from the emergency evacuation array formations used to escape. He had always prided himself on his ability to get away no matter the cost, but this time the cost had been extremely large. Over three hundred ships had prepared to ambush the sects of Ninying, but at this time only twenty-seven ships had returned. Finally docking the ship, he had his first mate take over preparing the ship for its next mission.

He walked to the admiral's house and knocked on the door, "Old Mo to visit the admiral."

The door opened and he stepped inside the slightly cluttered room.

"Old Mo, I'm surprised you returned this quickly, shouldn't you be hiding with your ship ready to pounce on your prey and run away with the goods", Admiral Chen said laughing.

"Aye Admiral, that should be what should have happened, but it isn't", Mo said and relayed the story about the merfolk, the wolves, and finally the voice and weapons of the island.

Chen stood up angrily and walked over to Mo, "How dare the merfolk ambush us. We should retaliate against this injustice, and bring them under our heels. Also, I should call forth all my ships and make a plan to attack this island."

Mo quickly said, "Admiral Chen, begging my pardon, but if you seek death, that's your choice. Please don't force all your men to die with you, even you should have heard of the Senior that resides on that island. You might be a hair's breath away from the Dao Formation stage, but that man is at the pinnacle of the cultivation world."

Chen stopped at Mo's words and considered carefully the situation, "We don't know enough about what's going on. Form a small group of spies that can infiltrate and collect information. They need to less well known and can pass easily as a common cultivator. You are dismissed for now, I expect the first report in six months."

In the operating room of the hospital, Huoran and a few assistants were joined by Thunderclaw.

"Shaman Thunderclaw, your assistance will be necessary for this procedure. These people behind me are people training under me as medical doctors and will only be observing."

"I understand ", Thunderclaw said with a wary tone.

Huoran turned to the ones behind him, "Today's patient is the leader of the Bloodclaw pack, who was admitted for poisoning. Shaman Thunderclaw, how was the poison delivered to the patient?"

Thunderclaw seemed confused by Huoran's question for a moment before realizing, "It was his dinner that was laced with poison."

"Thank you Shaman Thunderclaw, our first action will be to attempt to evaluate his condition through evasive means and identify the poison", Huoran lectured as he activated a series of arrays on the operating table, "Shaman Thunderclaw, these arrays are designed to take the pulse of the patient and evaluate his aura and condition. For the sake of the antidote, we will be recording the information gathered but once the procedures are complete, we will give you that information on a jade slip. If he has to return for any follow up treatments or new illnesses in the future, make sure you bring that slip with you."

Thunderclaw watched as large array circular formations spun around his pack leader for about ten minutes before the stopped and disappeared.

"I was afraid of this", Huoran sighed, "Shaman Thunderclaw, your leader's cultivation is too high for the evaluation arrays. Can you assist us in drawing a drop of blood from your leader, but do not draw essence blood or bloodline essence."

Thunderclaw gave a hard look at Huoran, "Why do you need a drop of blood, human?"

"Because the poison is still in the blood and we can separate the poison from the drop and analyze it to create an antidote", Huoran explained.

"I understand, one moment", Thunderclaw said as he moved to the leader's side and made a slight cut on the leader's hand. He collected a drop of blood, and brought it to Huoran.

"Thank you, Shaman Thunderclaw, please place it on this array plate", Huoran instructed as he placed an artifact on the cut made by the shaman.

Thunderclaw placed the drop on the plate and watched as Huoran activated the arrays.

The drop hovered in the air for a few moments before it split into two: a large red portion of blood and a tiny sphere of poison.

"Here is your leader's blood, I no longer need it", Huoran said as he gave the healer the drop.

The arrays continuously scanned the poison and after five minutes was able to identify ninety percent of the materials. When it failed to detect the remaining ten percent, Huoran asked Quanliyan, 'Can you assist me in identifying the remaining portion of the this poison?'

'Yes', Quanliyan replied, 'beginning analysis.'

After another ten minutes Huoran heard the results, 'who ever used this poison, didn't only want to kill him, but humiliate him as well. The last herb used was a rather old Wolfsbane, not only does it affect his body and Qi, but also his bloodline.'

Huoran wrote down the list of materials used in the poison and a list of spiritual plants needed to concoct a antidote.

"Shaman Thunderclaw, the poison consists mainly of Wolfsbane. If you have silver leafed oak and Midnight Shadow Lily, we will have a greater chance of success", Huoran informed him.

"I only have a few of both, that probably won't be enough to make the remedy", Thunderclaw answered.

"Just one of each is fine", Huoran responded.

Thunderclaw handed one of each herb over and watched as Huoran walked to the opposite corner and activated an isolation array.

"I'm sorry Shaman Thunderclaw, I have to isolate myself while refining the pill or the fragrance could positively or negatively impact your leader. You can still watch the refinement if you wish though", Huoran told him.

Thunderclaw simply shook his head and Huoran took out a pill furnace, only to stand in front of it for an hour not moving at all.

In simulation space, Huoran was swiftly refining the antidote over and over again to achieve the highest quality as he could.

He opened his eyes, took out the boxes of herbs, and lit the fire of the furnace. He processed each herb one by one storing the essences in the high quality rune glass tubes. He began the process of using both fire and water refining methods to combine the ingredients step by step and another hour and a half later, nine pills were condensed and formed. Each pill were of high quality and after inspecting his work,he bottled them, cleared the air, and left isolation.

"Before we begin, I'll test a pill on the poison sample we gathered earlier", Huoran stated his intentions and the shaman nodded.

Scraping a bit of powder from a pill he sprinkled it over the poison sphere still hovering in the array plate. Continuously scanning the process, both men watched as the poison changed colors from green to clear.

"Shaman, I propose to use one pill for now and watch and see if another will be required later", Huoran said.

"I agree", Thunderclaw replied.

"Take this bottle and administer the pill to your leader then", Huoran requested as he gave the shaman the bottle.

Thunderclaw took it and removed a pill from the bottle before approaching the Bloodclaw leader. He guided the pill into the leader's mouth and the pill melted. Huoran watched the health and Qi monitors for a few minutes before stating, "It's working, at this rate, he should awaken in the next four to six hours. Please stay by his side, shaman, if he wakes in an unfamiliar place, their might be a embarrassing situation. I'll iform your brethren and you can invite them in once the leader awakens."

Thunderclaw watched and when it passed four hours, he started getting nervous, but at the fifth hour, the patient's eyes fluttered for a moment before opening.

"Welcome back leader", Thunderclaw greeted him.
