Chapter 37 - Beachfront Property

Wei Huoran was sitting at a table, pretending to care about the conversations and people are him. He vowed to never expose himself again like he did at the gate, and just enter the city invisibly next time. All week, Dao Wen and Qin Rong have found reasons to knock on his door and invite him to events.

He was currently talking to to Minister Song over the tablet, "Minister Song, how have the people we have sent already adjusted to the new situation and environment."

"They are progressing at the same speed as prior groups, Boss Wei, we are familiar enough with the process that it's a smooth transition", Song assured Huoran.

"So far, everything has been smooth on this end", Huoran added, "I believe that tonight's meeting will be the last and we will be sending this bunch in a few hours. If my math is right, it should be nine thousand, three hundred, and twenty one."

"That is the same as our count Boss Wei, so far we have been able to house everyone though it's starting to be a tight fit", Song slightly chuckled.

"Let's continue with the plan then, it makes me sad and angry when residents can't receive basic services, but no one has even noticed that these people have already left", Huoran was disappointed.

He bid farewell to Minister Song, finished the call, and left the courtyard again to be 'entertained' by Dao Wen and Qin Rong.

Zeng Meirong was nervous about today, she had been told that today was the day that she would leave the city for an island up north. She has used most her savings to prepare for the trip, buying enough supplies for a few months. It would take that long to reach their destination, as long as they weren't attacked by any monsters or sea clans. She stayed in the inn for the next few hours until the sun set and darkness covered the sky. As she exited the building, she observed the four moons, each in different phases, simultaneously in the sky. This was a rare sight, and Meirong smiled as she believed this to be an auspicious sign. Making her way silently through the town, she came to the designated location, an abandoned auction house. She found a set of markings near the door and after touching them in the correct order, the door opened and she entered. It took her eyes a moment to adjust to the change in lighting, and she followed the instructions on the card as she turned left and right down the different hallways. As she approached the final hallway, a doorway appeared and she entered. Inside was over seven hundred people, on one side of the room were families huddled together and nervously watching their surroundings. On the other side were hundreds of people in tattered clothes, but also were covered in large fur blankets. As she walked to an empty spot, she worried, 'Did I make the right decision coming here? Even though this town isn't impressive, I could stay here for a bit longer.'

The door she had entered through opened again, and the man who had invited them here walked in.

"Everyone, I'm here to inform you that all invited guests have arrived and we will begin the trip shortly", the light clone announced.

He walked to the middle of the room, and summoned a large plate, placing it down. He touched a few places and the plate expanded and formed a standing circular artifact that was two meters tall. He touched a glowing light curtain that had appeared, and blue light brightened the room as the empty circle now had blue and white lights illuminating the room.

"This is a teleportation artifact and we will be using it to travel to our destination. If you want to ask why I didn't mention this before, we'll there are two reasons. First, most likely, all of you wouldn't believe me and think I was crazy. You would probably refuse to travel, and believe me when I say that the one who runs the island wants you to have a better life. Secondly, even if you did believe me, there could be a chance you would tell someone and while this wouldn't affect me, it would probably result in this group being left behind", The man explained, "Anyways, everything I said out there was true, and when we travel to Sun and Moon Island, there will be homes, food, clothes, and jobs. Also, slavery is outlawed on the island, so when you arrive there, all runes, inscriptions, and documents that identified your status will disappear. Now, please follow after me."

The large group of slaves stood as ordered and began to walk towards the portal. Without hesitation, the first ones walked into it and row after row followed after. It took some time, but eventually the over seven hundred slaves had entered. Meirong and the families stood there watching the portal afterwards for a few minutes before the man walked back into the room through the portal.

"I'm afraid to tell you but this portal will be active for two more minutes, if you have changed your mind, it's ok, but I have to inform you that if you decide to stay, I must block all knowledge of this incident from your mind", the man warned everyone.

The families decided to move and entered the portal one at a time. After another five minutes, all the families were gone and only the man and Meirong were alone inside the room.

"Forty-five seconds miss, or shall I shut it down now. It's quite expensive to keep this portal open", the man said to her.

"No, that's not necessary", Meirong spoke as she closed her eyes and walked into the portal. As she opened her eyes, she saw tall buildings made with materials she didn't recognize, forest greenery cleverly intertwined with the living space, and felt Qi in the air. As her eyes opened wide open, the light clone has disappeared.

Wei Huoran rose out of bed, and after confirming that the drones had returned from accomplishing the mission, he walked out of the courtyard and summoned his hover bike. He stealthily left the city and rose in the sky until he could get an overview of the land between Ice Lake City and the ocean. Calculating the distance he took out a set of artifacts that consisted of the secret realm globe, and six rods. He traveled in a large circle approximately one hundred kilometers in diameter, place four of the rods at four diametrically opposed points. Next he went to the center point, placing the globe on the snow. He released the last two rods, one went a kilometer into the sky, and the other drilled a kilometer into the ground. He activated the artifact and set a timer for ten minutes before releasing his aura to drive ever living creature out of the designated area. Once the space was clear, he also left the area and watched from a safe distance. Once the timer reached zero, a barrier formed between the six rods and from Ice Lake City, a view of a giant dome was seen by all the citizens. Over the next several minutes the barrier went from a transparent surface to a solidified one. Once the barrier was completely solid, a bright flash illuminated the horizon and when everyone's eyes finally could see again, a massive hole was now created. Dao Wen and Qin Rong quickly organized the guards of the town and after only traveling five kilometers, they reached the edge of the hole. As they stood on the edge of the hole, they watched as ocean water rushed to fill in the new coastline.
