Chapter 34 - Interruption

The patrol team's killing intent greatly intensified. Shimmering lights of their Mana began to flow out of their bodies.

The same rays of Mana began to ripple out of the criminal bodies. Both sides were on the edge of resuming their fights.

However, right at that moment when they were circulating their flow of Mana, Ervin dashed out!

He didn't use the Frantic Fire Storm since there were many targets here and the Mages here weren't in an extremely battered state. Thus, he decided to use precise strikes to ignite confusion and panic. He was now strong enough to do so.

Physical Mana burst through Ervin's body. His strength was amplified by several times, his sheer speed alone carrying him to the group in a matter of seconds.

The urge to kill flowed through Ervin. This sensation caused his Demon Orb to intensely stimulate, gleaming within his soul space with a beautiful crimson glow.

A special kind of magic power rippled out of the Demon Orb, perfectly fusing all throughout Ervin's body to amplify his strikes even further.

His magical sword slashed out, the cold gleam of its blade piercing straight toward the patrol team Adept's Mage.

The Adept Mage was right in the middle of circulating his Mana flow. It was only at a fraction of a second did his soul suddenly felt something was off.

But his mind could not react in that short amount of time. A brief chill swept throughout his entire body.

'Chi!'

Blood wildly splashed all over the area!

The brutal sound of flesh being pierced broke everyone out of their concentration.

"Ahh?!?" Horrified shrieks erupted all around.

The Adept Mage spat out a mouthful of blood, his body violently trembling. Completely out of thin air, there was now a magical sword piercing deep into one of his lungs!

A flow of Mana spewed from the blade, recklessly rampaging across the Adept Mage's body, destroying his bones and suppressing a great deal of his Mana.

When the Adept Mage could finally react, he began to forcefully surge his superior level of Mana to at least freeze this invading Mana force.

But right at that same moment, the magical sword vanished out of the Adept Mage's chest.

Blood wildly splashed out of the gaping wound on the Adept Mage's chest. His body trembled, his hands instantly going up to clutch his horrifying wound.

There was only a brief second of silence. Then, all at the same time, with fear dawning on their faces, one of them shrieked, "The Invisible Killer!! The rumors were true!"

All Mage Enforcers there, no matter their magical power, beliefs, or past grudges, shook with utter fear.

For several days, there was a rumor going about only privy to the higher-up Mage Enforcers. This was supposed to be a rumor only shared by them but was 'accidentally' leaked out to the lower level Mages.

That is, a Mage with the power to go completely invisible, avoiding all forms of detection and senses, was out here mercilessly killing any and all beings.

They struck numerous times already, completely wiping out entire patrol teams.

This rumor seemed both terrifying and completely exaggerated. After all, what kind of Mages has the ability to turn completely invisible to the point they couldn't be sensed by anyone's magical sense?

It was an overpowering ability that nobody across the entire city had ever heard of. Yet, at the same time, with the existence of magic itself being real, nobody could surely say that the rumor was completely false.

Perhaps, even if it was only a small chance, there was some Mage being this infamous invisible killer.

And that rumor has just been proven at this very moment.

The fear of death began to crush their minds. The criminal Adept Mage burst out rippling waves of Mana, his blade brightly glistening as he said, "Shit, since whoever is here is targeting them, just quickly kill them and let's get out of here!"

"Right!" The other criminals gritted their teeth with a wave of killing intent busting out of their bodies.

"You!" The Patrol team had to push down their fears, tensing their bodies to face the ravenous criminals and whatever other force was here.

It was at this time that Ervin was about to pierce the chest of a criminal Mage to cause even further chaos.

However, right at that moment, before he or anyone else could move, a massive wave of terrifying cold air swept through the entire area!

Chills instantly shivered through everyone's spines. Eyes began to widen from the extreme drop in temperature.

"Stop!"

A high-pitched voice shook the ground, rippling out a suffocating wave of magical power.

"This is just senseless killing!" As the voice reverberated, a faint mist of blue began to spread all across the area.

The icy mist amplified the cold air already suffocating the area. Bodies began to uncontrollably shiver, forcing the Mages to call off their fight to surge their own Mana to resist the painful cold.

Ervin was safe from the icy mist, but the drain on his invisibility state increased by three times.

A rippling flash of white suddenly gleamed through the icy mist. The white flash soared at swift speeds, far surpassing what any Peak Stage Novice Mage or even Early Adept Mages can react to.

The white flash stopped right in the middle of everyone.

What was revealed was not an all-powerful male Mage, but rather, a beautiful young woman exuding a natural grace that she came from royalty.

Her Mage robes faintly glisten with icy magical runes that synergize with the already cold atmosphere. The determined, stern expression on her beautiful face robbed everyone away breath.

This young Mage didn't look to be anywhere older than 19 or 20, yet her magical power was already this fierce.

For a brief moment, neither the criminals nor the patrol team knew exactly what to do when faced with another unexpected newcomer.

That didn't apply to Ervin. He coldly glared at this young Mage, detecting that her realm was only at Early Stage Adept!

Her Mana power should be higher than Novice, but also shouldn't be so extreme at merely at the Adept realm.

Ervin had yet to encounter an Adept Mage who could generate such a large field of Mana and still move at incredible speed without seemingly any trouble.

Still, no matter who this young genius was, Ervin knew he had to stop this icy mist or he would be exposed to everyone here with a small pool of Mana.

He didn't want to use his Mana flashbangs as he wanted this Mage to be completely caught off guard, the flashbang would only make the Mage instinctively tense her body with Mana.

The Demon Orb surged its slaughtering intent, his physical arts activated, and his magical sword boomed with amplified power to shatter stone boulders into pieces.

Ervin slashed his magical sword straight toward the young mage's exposed neck, wanting to quickly suppress her and get this fight out of the way.

Nobody could sense what was Ervin doing or ever know what he was up to. However, there was a critical problem in Ervin's action.

This time, the Adept Mage he's facing wasn't battered, injured, or drained of Mana in the slightest. She was still at her peak state.

Thus, her soul frantically alerted her to a perilous threat nearing an inch away from her back!

"What?!" The young Mage's eyes widened, her magical sense going crazy as the icy mist around her began to violently ripple.

She simply had to follow her danger instincts. Adept Mana frantically exploded through her body as she twisted herself at unnatural speeds.

A magical sword glistened within her palm, slashing straight wherever this feeling of danger was coming from. Faint glimmers of ice Mana gleamed across the blade, amplifying its power to freeze anything in its path.

'Chi!'

The screeching sound of metal reverberated across the area. Waves of powerful Adept Mana blasted out as powerful waves of air.

The young Mage's magical sword was seemingly clashing against an invisible force that not a single person could sense.

"Who?!" The young mage's focus completely shattered.

She needed her concentration to maintain the icy mist around them. With this sudden invisible force, the icy mist broke into thousands of tiny light particles.

While the young mage was shocked, Ervin barely changed his expression.

He could've phased his sword straight through the young mage's sword to try to cut her neck. However, when he had the thought to do so, Ervin felt an ominous feeling run through his body. That feeling wasn't even needed. Ervin could guess that this young genius would have enough hardened battle instincts to either put up a Mana defense or move at superior speeds.

He could've tried to strike at her chest rather than a precision point at her neck. But Ervin did not have the confidence that his Mana power could not only slice through the young mage's specially crafted Mage robes but also the body of an Adept Mage that had their Mana flowing through their body.

These were two layers of defense Ervin needed to shred through if he wanted to pierce into her lungs.

If he had phased through, Ervin's sword simply would've felt like it clashed against a stone force, failing to pierce through and wasting away more of Ervin's Mana reserves.

By clashing blades with the force of his own Mana, Ervin did feel a drain on his Mana reserves from the sheer force of the young Mage's magical power, but he was able to shatter her focus to dispel the icy mist.

The dazed focus also granted Ervin a great moment to unleash a devastating strike.

Ervin did not let go of this opportunity. He managed to easily pull back his magical sword since the powerful effects of ice Mana simply phase through his body.

The young mage stumbled forward from the loss of force, her Mana slightly going out of order from the suddenness.

At that moment, Ervin waved his other hand, unleashing a wave of Telekenis Mana that directly phased into the young mage's body.

"Hm?!" The young mage's eyes widened even more. A sudden heavy force engulfed her body, attempting to suppress her movement.

Her higher Mana power would be able to easily break out of the force.

But this second stalled the young mage's swift movement.

Ervin used this second of stalling to viciously slash his magical sword straight toward the young mage's neck!
