Chereads / Infamous Mage Controlling The World / Chapter 6 - Passing The Test

Chapter 6 - Passing The Test

Complete Invisibility allowed Ervin to not only bypass the magical principle fog but also see deeply into the fog, allowing him to study its magical principles.

Of course, he could only do this with the crystal core since it was not at a level of superior Magical power that could kill Ervin.

But even still, this allowed him to hasten his comprehension without even needing to directly upgrade his Magical Core.

At the same time, the flow of Mana blocked by the crystal core's fog was able to completely bypass right through it. Flows of Ervin's Mana infused into the crystal core as his magical mind deeply studied the fog's magical principles.

Studying what was here helped his general understanding of Magic as a whole.

Ervin didn't go too fast even though he could. He only did a slightly faster pace than other red-color talents to fill the crystal core.

Within a minute, a faint light began to shimmer out of the crystal core.

Another minute and it was halfway filled.

Two minutes later the crystal core was brilliantly shining close to completion.

"Oh?" The Mage Enforcer's eyes piqued with intrigue.

When comparing this to the other red-color talent he received, this boy was two times faster than them.

It was impossible to cheat to the Mage Enforcer's knowledge. He and many others believed there was no Common Mage Arts that could alter the magical mind space.

Even higher tier Magical Arts have difficulty doing so.

The Mage Enforcer did not sense that Ervin has an Innate ability, thus he concluded that this young man studies far better than his peers to have a greater comprehension of his current talent.

Within three more minutes, cracks began to burst all across the crystal core.

Ervin actually had a genuine understanding of its magic principles at this point. There wasn't even a need for him to cheat with Complete Invisibility.

He flowed his Mana without any issue, pouring out with the serenity of a calming stream of water.

Bright magical lights continually rippled out of the cracks. The crystal core violently pulsated before completely shattering apart!

Glass-shattering sounds reverberated as the crystal core was overloaded by Ervin's Mana, breaking into numerous tiny little pieces.

"I see." The Mage Enforcer nodded, filled with a bit more anticipation than the others he had tested. "You have the potential to learn better Magical Arts and can skip the mental test. Here take this and follow along to the proctor room and wait with the others who have passed the tests."

The Mage Enforcer tossed over another badge that had a specific set of numbers engraved onto it.

Catching the badge, Ervin simply nodded without saying anything. He left the room and was directly guided straight toward the proctor's room.

In here, there were already a considerable amount of passed trainees.

Ervin recognized some faces, but not too many seemed to identify him. He didn't care and made himself comfortable on one of the chairs while listening to the predictable conversations being shared.

Everyone else in this room was filled with an overwhelming feeling of eager anticipation.

This is it!

The day they would finally become Mage Enforcers!

One of the most well-respected positions across the city and with a considerable great pay from the organization.

Whether they directly passed the first test or had to go through the mental test, the youths here were ready to kick start their lives into a grander path.

From one pair of youths who were friends before coming here, Ervin heard one of them say, "Imagine one day we can become someone like Spirit Master Leon! The fame he has, the glory he has, the power he has...it's all like a fantastical dream."

His friend wryly smiled. She calmly said, "You should be more focused on helping people and protecting our city. Besides, you know very well this isn't some average claim to fame. Being a Mage Enforcer comes with more than a few shares of horror stories."

That caused the young man to instantly deflate from some of his eagerness. He sheepishly rubbed the back of his head, saying, "Yea, I know that. It just feels so exciting to be at a place where so many legendary people came out of, you know?"

It was a sentiment that was shared with everyone there.

Even Ervin, for his own reasons, was looking forward to studying about the legendary Mage Enforcers who made their mark in history.

Time quickly passed.

When around a few hours passed, all those who passed the tests were finally in the proctoring room.

Ervin noticed that despite the huge line on the outside, not too many were actually here.

Only around 30 graduates have passed out of the couple hundred that had shown up.

Of course, many of those other failed graduates only had a white color talent. But there was also a great number of red-color talent and even the talent right above this one, the orange level.

And yet, even orange-level talents failed, specifically failing during the mental test.

With the discussions held by the others, Ervin soon realized that the mental test was about resisting genuine killing intent.

Killing intent is a magical sensation that can exude from anyone's body and affect the physical world depending on one's level of Magical prowess.

When one gains a deep enough urge to kill and also soak their hand blood, they know exactly what it means to gain the intent to snuff another person's life out.

As Mage Enforcers, they will be facing killing intent from all sides, demonic beasts or other humans. To completely freeze up when faced with killing intent wasn't what any Mage Enforcer wanted.

That could make the life or death in any battle.

It was only until now that Ervin realized that Mage Enforcer who oversaw the crystal core test had let his killing intent flow into his presence.

Ervin not even flinching in front of that pressure truly did prove he has what it takes, even more so than others since he directly faced an experienced Mage Enforcer's killing intent.

The news wasn't that big. But Ervin did keep a mental note to study about the intricacies of killing intent later. Being able to manipulate such a skill could prove extremely useful for him later on.

In the midst of his thought, Ervin and the others suddenly snapped their eyes to the door.

Their magical minds could just faintly sense it. A supreme magical presence was directly coming towards them.

The door flew open and everyone witnessed an elegant Mage Enforcer walking into the room.

This Mage Enforcer exuded a greater magical pressure than the one in the crystal core. He alone could decide the life and death of anyone in the room without batting a single eye. Souls genuinely tremble when beneath this Mage Enforcer's gaze.

The Mage Enforcer in question had handsome looks that attracted any eyes and a profound gaze in his eyes that took breaths away.

Before saying anything, he opened his palm and condensed beautiful rays of magical light onto the center.

The rays of Mana converged, creating a majestic spectacle as it formed into a magical projection.

The magical projection had the unique symbol of the Mage Enforcers at the center. Under it read the words of 'Ensure Order & Control.'

An irresistible momentum flooded out in waves as the Mage Enforcer held up the magical projection.

His voice boomed into everyone's ears. "Do not ever forget as Mage Enforcers, hundreds of thousands rely on us to keep order and control of what's outside of the city. This is our responsibility that we absolutely must uphold. If we fail to do that, only disaster awaits. In truly urgent events such as the case of the Heavy Black Mists flows, only us Mage Enforcers can resist it. Understand?"

"Understood!" Nearly everyone in the seats loudly replied with determined nods.

Ervin was glad his lackluster response was drowned out by everyone else.

It was at this time that the Mage Enforcer began to go over rules that Ervin had read long ago in his pursuit to become a Mage Enforcer.

Nothing that was said was useful for Ervin so decided to think of other topics that could help him out later.
