Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Big Barda stood like a juggernaut of destruction, her armor glinting in the sun like dark steel forged in hell. Her Mega Rod pulsed with apocalyptic energy, sending devastating shockwaves through the ranks of Atlanteans attempting to flank her. Opposite her was Orick, one of Orin II's most powerful generals. Standing nearly seven feet tall, his trident was etched with glowing Atlantean runes, humming with raw oceanic power.

"You won't pass here, brute," Orick growled, his voice a deep rumble.

Barda's lips curled into a predatory grin. "I don't need to pass. I just need to leave your corpse behind."

She lunged forward, swinging her Mega Rod with terrifying speed. Orick met the blow with his trident, the clash sending a deafening shockwave across the battlefield. Energy from the Mega Rod lashed out, carving deep craters into the earth. Orick retaliated with a surge of water, a roaring tidal wave that rose from the ground and crashed toward Barda.

But Barda stood firm. Her boots dug into the ground, and with a single swing of her Mega Rod, she split the wave in two. "You think the ocean can stop me?!" she roared. She launched herself at Orick, her rod crackling with energy.

Their duel was a brutal exchange of blows. Orick's mastery of the tides allowed him to flow like water, dodging Barda's relentless attacks while striking back with precision. But Barda was relentless, her brute strength and apocalyptic arsenal steadily overpowering his defenses.

Lashina, meanwhile, was a whirlwind of deadly grace. Her steel whip snaked through the air, slicing through armor and flesh alike as she danced across the battlefield. Her opponent, Amazonian champion Kalliope, was an expert with twin blades. The two circled each other amidst the chaos, their movements swift and deliberate.

"You must be one of their best," Lashina said, her voice calm and chilling. "A shame you'll die here."

Kalliope tightened her grip on her swords. "The shame will be yours when you're crushed beneath Amazonian steel."

Lashina struck first, her whip snapping out with blinding speed. Kalliope parried the strike with one sword, slashing at Lashina with the other. Lashina twisted, her movements fluid and almost serpentine, avoiding the blow and retaliating with another crack of her whip.

Their battle was one of precision and agility, a deadly dance of strikes and counters. Lashina's whip coiled and lashed like a living serpent, while Kalliope's twin blades moved with blinding speed. Lashina managed to entangle one of Kalliope's swords, yanking it away, but the Amazonian warrior didn't falter. With a roar, she charged Lashina, her remaining blade slicing through the air.

Lashina sidestepped, her whip snapping out to wrap around Kalliope's leg. She pulled hard, sending the Amazon crashing to the ground. Before Kalliope could recover, Lashina was on her, her whip poised to strike.

Not far away, Bloody Mary reveled in the chaos. Her crimson eyes glowed with bloodlust as she floated above the battlefield, her vampiric powers sowing fear among the humans and Atlanteans below. Her opponent, Hypolyta, stood defiantly, her golden armor shining like a beacon of hope amidst the darkness.

"You are a parasite, feeding off fear and blood," Hypolyta said, her voice steady and commanding. "You'll find no sustenance here."

Bloody Mary smiled, baring her fangs. "Bold words from a mortal. I'll enjoy breaking you."

She descended with lightning speed, her claws aimed at Hypolyta. The Amazon queen raised her shield, the impact sending a shockwave that rippled across the battlefield. Bloody Mary hissed, retreating only to dart in again, her movements almost too fast to track.

Hypolyta fought with the discipline of a warrior who had seen centuries of battle. Her strikes were precise, her shield deflecting Bloody Mary's attacks while her sword sought openings. But Bloody Mary was no ordinary foe. Her speed and agility, combined with her vampiric strength, made her a formidable opponent.

As their battle raged, Bloody Mary's laughter echoed across the battlefield. "You fight well for a mortal," she taunted. "But how long can you last before I drain you dry?"

Hypolyta's response was a wordless cry as she swung her sword, the blade catching Bloody Mary's arm and drawing dark, ichor-like blood. The vampiress hissed in pain, her red eyes blazing with fury.

The horizon was awash with fire and smoke, the sky a swirling mass of clouds painted red by the violence below. At the heart of this turmoil stood Kalibak, the hulking son of Darkseid. His massive frame towered over the battlefield, his armored form a terrifying monument to Apokolips' might.

In front of him stood a figure equally legendary in his own right—Vandal Savage, known now as Genghis Khan. Draped in black and crimson battle regalia, his armor was adorned with symbols of conquest, and his weapon, a massive curved blade gleamed ominously. Around him stood an elite force of warriors—metahumans, human champions, and the strongest Atlanteans and Amazons Earth could muster.

Savage narrowed his eyes at Kalibak. "You are large, beast, but size alone does not make a conqueror. Your arrogance will be your downfall."

Kalibak grinned, his teeth bared in a feral snarl. "You think this rabble can stand against me? I'll crush you beneath my heel, mortal, and send your bones to father as tribute."

Kalibak was the first to strike, wielding his Beta Club with devastating force. The weapon crackled with energy as he brought it down in a thunderous arc, aiming to obliterate Savage and his warriors in a single blow. Savage dodged to the side with inhuman speed, the ground where he once stood erupting in an explosion of earth and fire.

"Attack!" Savage commanded, his voice booming across the battlefield.

His warriors surged forward. Atlantean spearmen hurled javelins tipped with orichalcum, Amazons charged with blades glowing with divine blessings, and metahumans unleashed their unique abilities. One warrior, cloaked in lightning, dashed at Kalibak, moving too fast for the eye to track. Another hurled massive boulders as if they were pebbles.

But Kalibak was undeterred. He swung his Beta Club with terrifying precision, each strike sending shockwaves that knocked warriors off their feet. He caught the lightning-cloaked metahuman mid-dash, slamming the warrior into the ground with a sickening crunch. A boulder hurled at him shattered against his chest-plate, the shards falling harmlessly to the ground.

"You'll have to do better than that!" Kalibak roared, his laughter echoing across the battlefield.

Savage leaped into action, his blade meeting Kalibak's Beta Club in a clash that lit up the sky. Sparks flew as the two titans exchanged blows, Savage's technique and speed matching Kalibak's raw power. Savage ducked under a wide swing and delivered a vicious slash across Kalibak's side, the blade biting through the armor and drawing dark, steaming blood.

Kalibak snarled in pain, retaliating with a backhanded swing that sent Savage skidding across the ground. "You dare to draw my blood, worm?!"

While Savage kept Kalibak occupied, his elite forces focused on the Parapredator Berserkers and Paraxeno Juggernauts that supported the Apokoliptian general.

An Amazon warrior wielding twin flaming swords engaged a pair of Berserkers, her movements a blur as she dodged their savage strikes and retaliated with precision. She managed to sever the head of one Berserker before being overwhelmed by the claws of the second, her dying scream piercing the chaos.

An Atlantean champion armed with a trident forged from deep-sea obsidian faced a Juggernaut. The creature charged him, its massive fists leaving craters in the earth. The Atlantean struck with a tidal wave of energy, the water slicing into the Juggernaut's hide, but the beast's resilience was unmatched. It grabbed the Atlantean and crushed him with a sickening crunch before hurling the lifeless body aside.

A metahuman with the power to manipulate fire unleashed a torrent of flames at a group of Berserkers, incinerating several of them. But before he could celebrate, a Parapredator pounced on him, its claws ripping through his flesh as it silenced his screams.

Despite the overwhelming odds, Earth's forces fought valiantly, their courage and determination a testament to their refusal to bow to Apokolips.

Savage and Kalibak continued their duel, each blow a testament to their immense power. Savage's blade moved with surgical precision, aiming for weak points in Kalibak's armor, while Kalibak relied on brute force, each swing of his Beta Club capable of leveling entire battalions.

"You fight well for a mortal," Kalibak admitted, his voice a grudging growl. "But you're only delaying the inevitable."

Savage smirked, blood dripping from a cut on his forehead. "And you fight well for a lackey. Tell me, does it hurt knowing you'll never be more than your father's dog?"

Kalibak's roar of rage shook the battlefield. He charged at Savage, swinging his Beta Club with enough force to split mountains. Savage sidestepped at the last moment, delivering a precise strike to Kalibak's exposed arm. The blade cut deep, forcing Kalibak to drop his weapon.

Kalibak roared in pain, but his fury only made him more dangerous. He lunged at Savage with his bare hands, his massive fists slamming into the earth as Savage dodged and counterattacked. Despite his injuries, Kalibak's sheer strength and resilience made him a terrifying opponent.

"You cannot win, Savage!" Kalibak bellowed, his voice a mixture of rage and triumph. "This world is doomed, and so are you!"

Savage, breathing heavily, tightened his grip on his blade. "If I'm doomed, then I'll take you with me."

As the battle raged, Kalibak's forces began to gain the upper hand. The combined might of the Parapredator Berserkers, Paraxeno Juggernauts, and Apokoliptian soldiers was too much for Earth's defenders to hold back. The bodies of humans, Amazons, and Atlanteans littered the battlefield, their blood soaking the earth.

But Savage refused to give up. Rallying his remaining warriors, he launched a desperate counterattack, targeting the flanks of Kalibak's forces. His blade flashed like a beacon, cutting through Apokoliptian soldiers with ruthless efficiency.

Kalibak, enraged and wounded, grabbed his Beta Club once more and turned his attention back to Savage. The two clashed again, their battle a storm of fury amidst the chaos.

Though outnumbered and outmatched, Savage and his forces fought on, their courage unyielding. The fate of Earth hung in the balance, the outcome of the war uncertain.
