In a bedroom on the second floor, Charles stood in front of the bed, holding a newly awakened blood baby in his arms. He was gently stroking her tiny ears, a look of delight on his face.
"Put down my daughter—NOW!" Blood Queen screamed, her entire body's tentacles instantly turning ice-sharp, and coiling around Charles, aiming at him.
Snapping to attention, Charles' gaze fell on the enraged woman. He flicked off the slime from his clothes and smiled, "Madam, this is hardly a way to treat a guest. You said you'd have dinner with me, but I haven't even seen your face since I've been downstairs. All I've had is a scare."
Holding the blood baby closer, he sighed, "It's quite disheartening."
Blood Queen scoffed coldly, "Stop playing the saint in front of me. I know what you've done to my daughter. What? Planning to sweet-talk me again?"
