Looking at Tony, who was covered in feces, Charles gave a thumbs up and said:
"Quite the haul today, huh?"
Trying to stomach his disgust as he cleaned himself, Tony then asked:"What about you guys? I sacrificed a lot here; did you find any useful clues?"
Charles nodded. "Let's talk somewhere else."
....
A dark, cramped space, an empty corner.
The pungent smell of ammonia. A faint scent of blood still lingering in the air.
The ghostly green light of a ghost candle illuminated the sneaky figures of the three men.
At that moment, a muscly man, still reeking of crap but now wet all over, raised his right hand.
"Question! Why are we in the women's bathroom and not the men's?"
Charles glanced at him and nodded. "Good question. Don't ask it again."
Under Tony's awkward gaze, Charles took out a textbook and placed it in front of the two of them.
"This is the clue I got from the sixth train car."
He read the four lines out loud to them:
"The control room has the latest map and information on the Blood Moon Tower."
"The train needs diesel fuel to run."
"Do not go to the cockpit."
"It's always watching you!"
The brief four lines gave them an eerie feeling.
"Strange..."
"Why mention starting the train?" Tony frowned.
"Are we supposed to drive the train ourselves into the endless abyss? But we don't know how to operate a train."
"Could it be a diversion tactic by the system?"
Charles remained silent. He unfolded the documents Zoe had brought, illuminating them with the light of the ghost candle.
After sorting through, Charles found several records regarding Blood Moon Town and the Blood Moon Tower.
Last June, as per tradition, they had fine-tuned the various facilities and the wear and tear of train parts at the station in preparation for the kids from Mist School to return to Blood Moon Town for the holidays. But before the holidays could even begin, a terrifying disaster struck!
A sudden, pitch-black storm swept across the train station. The very next day, monsters began appearing in the village near the station!
They were cruel, bloodthirsty, oddly shaped, and some even had mechanical forms. These monsters were extremely brutal and would evolve and become stronger by killing.
By the time everyone received this news, the situation had already escalated to a severe level.
Fortunately, they still had one train at the station that could take most of the villagers to Abyss Town.
Through broadcasting or other means, most of the villagers were quickly summoned. They rushed to the station, eager to board this last train to escape the horrifying place.
However, something unexpected happened. The train failed to start. They all died here.
...
Just then, a shadow drifted into the women's bathroom.
The three men slowly turned their heads to look at her.
It was a female janitor. Of course, she was no longer human.
Seeing two men in the women's restroom, she seemed somewhat confused.
Did she walk into the wrong place?
Especially one of the burly men; his clothes seemed oddly familiar.
It seemed like...
Suddenly, she hesitated.
As she turned to run, she heard Charles laugh from behind:
"See who's next to me? The new team leader of the security guard! You dare to run? Do you believe he could beat the shit out of you with that baton in his hand?"
Tony also raised the baton in his hand, his face menacing.
His expression, coupled with the stench of feces, was extremely convincing.
The janitor's rotting face turned very gloomy. She cautiously sat down next to the three men.
"What would you like to ask?"
Among the ghosts, this janitor was at the bottom in terms of fighting ability, so she was timid and dared not offend anyone.
Charles patted her shoulder, and she shuddered in fright.
"It's nothing much, don't be so tense. The new team leader here isn't fully aware of the situation yet and would like to ask you a few questions... answer them honestly."
The janitor hurriedly nodded.
"What exactly happened at this station back then?"
Charles pointed to the date on the document. The janitor glanced at it and then shivered violently, her face shaking wildly.
"I don't know... I don't know... I don't know..."
"I don't know anything..."
"Don't ask me..."
Seeing this, Tony sensed they had touched a nerve. He swung his baton menacingly.
"Not talking? You want to be beaten until you crap yourself?"
The janitor clenched her teeth, "Even if you beat the shit out of me, I won't speak!"
She paused and whispered, "It... it's always watching us!"
Hearing this, both Tony and Zoe immediately became tense!
They quickly looked around but saw nothing. It was precisely this absence that instilled even more fear in Tony and Zoe.
"Who... who's watching us?"
Zoe swallowed.
The janitor still shook her head.
Seeing her like this, it was clear she would never speak.
Charles looked up and addressed the janitor: "So, the last question... where is the diesel storage room?"
Usually, there should be a place for storing a large amount of diesel near the tracks, but there was no indication of this on the map.
The janitor replied, "The original station did have a diesel station, right up ahead, but it was dismantled during station maintenance for some reason... However, I remember there are a few barrels of diesel in the basement. But the basement's manager has a terrible temper; getting diesel from him will probably be tricky."
Charles nodded, thanked her, and let her go.
"You're letting her go just like that?" Tony frowned, believing the janitor still had utility.
But Charles said, "It's enough. It's already sufficient."
"Huh?" Both looked confused.
"That's sufficient?"
Charles explained, "The grudges within the train come from the passengers who previously died in it, and what they want to do is the same as us—leave this place and head towards the Endless Abyss. To dissolve their grudges, we need to start the train. And to do that, we need three essential conditions. The first is that the train's conductor must be able to operate it from the cab."
"The second is some diesel."
As he said this, Charles's expression subtly changed.
Tony, who was listening intently, hurriedly asked, "What's the third? What is the third condition?"
Charles mysteriously replied, "I can't say."
"If I tell you... it will know!"
At this, both men felt a chill run down their spines.
"So, something really is watching us?"
Charles nodded, his gaze sharp.
"Yes."
"But the good news is... it hasn't fully awakened yet."
"When it does... we'll all die!"
