My gaze lingered on the crinkled paper resting on my desk, a letter I'd read dozens of times by now. There wasn't much to glean from it; the message was as straightforward as it could be. Nevertheless, an urge drew me to read it dozens of times more, even though there wasn't anything else to deduce from it.

This was the entirety of the message that fool left behind. Not only did he not leave a message just for me, but he also omitted any mention of his current situation.
