The gleaming skyscrapers of New York City stretched towards the heavens. The sun was just beginning to break through the curtains of my spacious apartment, casting a soft, golden glow on the walls. I groaned as I stretched my body beneath the plush sheets. As I gazed out of my bedroom window, I was mesmerized by the stunning view of the city skyline that had become my daily companion.
"Good morning" I whispered to myself, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. The city's energy never failed to inspire me. I pushed the covers aside and swung my tiny little legs over the edge of the bed. My dark hair remained tangled and messy as always, and I ran a hand through it to tame the unruly strands.
I stood up and made my way up to the bathroom, As I stood near the mirror, I assessed my reflection. My tailored navy blue pantsuit was laid out neatly, ready to be put on for the day. I began my daily routine by applying makeup, highlighting my eyes with a touch of mascara, eyeshadow and liner, and giving my lips a coat of nude lipstick.
"Verene, you've got this," I muttered to my reflection, taking a deep breath before I allowed myself a cute smile.
Just as I was about to finish my makeup , My bedroom door creaked open, and a familiar voice called out, "Verene, are you up already?"
I turned to see my roommate- best friend, Sabrina , standing in the doorway. Sabrina was the complete opposite of me in many ways, Her love for artsy and fashion designing is insane which made me fall in love with art as well. She had curly red hair , curvy body, very sassy, she's tall and obviously she's beautiful, Sabrina and I have been supportive besties and roommates for more than I could think of, we both have been through a lot of struggles in order to pursue our dreams.
"Morning Sabrina," I greeted, my voice filled with affection. I knew Sabrina's quirks, and we both had been inseparable since our high school days.
Sabrina offered me her arms as we hugged . "You're up early, Big day at the your office?"
I nodded, excitement coursing through my veins. " uhhh I have a very hectic life as a lawyer , but you can call it my lucky day Sab, I'm meeting the rich client dude , and I can't be late and I hope things go perfectly"
Sabrina's eyes lit up with curiosity. "Oh babe, he better be hot!!! tell me more ! Who's this client?"
I shook My head, enjoying the playful mystery of it all. "None. They've kept me in the dark, I haven't seen him in person nor do I know his name, but I have a feeling it's going to be quite the case. I'll let you know all the juicy details when I get back."
Sabrina clapped her hands together with enthusiasm. "That's incredible, Verene! You've been working so hard for this moment. I have no doubt you'll impress him. Just be yourself, you got this girl."
As I finished getting ready, Sabrina sat on the edge of her bed, watching me with a mix of admiration and fondness. "You've got this, Verene," she repeated, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "And afterwards, we'll celebrate. I'll make reservations at that fancy Italian place you like."
I smiled at her. " Sure Thanks, Sab. I appreciate that."
As I finished drinking my coffee and made my way towards the door, Sabrina couldn't help but tease me like she always does . "You're like a kid on Christmas morning. Don't keep us in suspense for too long."
I chuckled, my heart filled with a sense of excitement and anticipation. I was stepping into my Uber and thinking of the unknown, ready to face whatever challenges the day would bring.
