Scarlet didn't know that he was awake and lessoning to everything she was doing. She would feel bad about waking him up but felt that there was nothing that she could do about it since her Pup came first. After she finished the song, the food was ready. Once he got fed Scarlet put him back to sleep and tried to get some rest herself.
By the time morning came the Little Fuzzball was waking Scarlet up with the cutest little whinny sounds that told her that he was awake and hungry. Smiling at him and she sat up in the hammock and looked over to see that Kitty was also awake and staring at her. When he seen that she was up, he got up stretched and started to help get things prepared for breakfast.
Travis looked at the food that he brought yesterday, he noticed that it looked different and didn't know what was done to it. He had never seen her touch it, and other than the Village Leader there was no one else in the room since he brought it here last night.
Since he was curious about it, he decided to ask, because she didn't seem to mind him asking questions "Who did this and when did it happen? I stayed up all night and I swear that I didn't hear anything or see anyone come or go."
When she noticed what he was looking at and realizing what he was talking about she shrugged and said "It may have been one of the Spirits. More than likely it was Windy. Since we didn't hear anything. Using that combination of materials, it looks like it was cured for preservation."
The confused look on Travis' face was so funny that Scarlet just had to laugh. She went on to explain "There are Four Elements Air, Water, Earth, and Fire. They have no real control over the Earth itself, more along the side of Nature. They can be big pests at times like when you found me. The Earth Spirit Rocky moved me from my hiding spot to where you found me. I was not happy about that stunt of his at all."
Travis looked like he had somewhat of an understanding with her explanation. So, she continued "If there was a rockslide about to destroy a village that can be a 'Spirits Will' or it could just be an effect of Nature itself. Cause and effect, lots of rain in one spot can do that, or someone could have just pissed off a Spirit leaving them taking matters into their own hands. Now if there was a volcano eruption that would be a Natural Occurrence of the Planet, and not the action of a Spirit."
This explanation seemed to make it through to him, but the question that he asked next made her laugh again "I am understanding some things, but what is a Volcano?"
After she could breathe again from laughing so hard, she answered his question "A volcano is a mountain that can be very big or small and they have a big tube that goes down into a level of the Earth and is filled with a huge amount of melted rock called Magma. When the volcano erupts, the Magma is shot out of the top and that is called Lava. It will destroy anything and everything in its path without discrimination. The spirits don't have anything to do with that, but they could help if they chose too. They usually only care about themselves, and if they don't like you, they will either never make themselves known to you or make your life Hell."
"How is it that you know them?" he asked innocently.
"I have been on my own for such a long time, becoming so lonely that I started to sing and dance to make myself feel better. They liked it so much that they decided to make themselves known to me. Over time we got to know each other."
This explanation was so surprising to Travis, not expecting to hear her say that. He had to know "How long have you been alone?"
Scarlet looked at him and answered without thinking "10 years." Hearing this it was his breaking point and he started to cry. All Travis wanted to do was hold her tight and tell her that she was not alone now. That she would never be alone again, but she wouldn't like or except that from him. There was nothing that he could do but sit and be there for her if she was willing to allow him to be.
When Scarlet looked up, she was a little shocked to see Her Kitty crying again. With a sad smile she said "No worries, Kitty. It has been a long time, but the Spirits have been with me through most of it. Everything that has happened in my life has made me who I am today. I can take care of myself and be able to provide for not only myself but my Little Fuzzball. This to me is not a bad thing.
"One needs to experience tough times and let what they experience in life Good and Bad help shape the person that you are today. You can either be Weak and let it overtake and destroy you or be Strong and help you concur your life."
Hearing this he didn't feel any better about the life she had to experience, but he did suck it up. It was not like he could change what happened to her in the past, but he could help to change her future. He would do whatever it took to make her feel safe and happy with him.
