She pushed him away to take the vase, which was on the corner, and broke it on the wall.
"This is my house; I didn't ask for your help. Is interfering in the affairs of others one of your traits as a doctor?" She said that while she was waving the broken vase in front of Ronald, he tenderly smiled at her.
"I can understand your mad mood, but Miss, be frank and answer me," he uttered, then dragged a chair and put one leg over the other. Erika was on her nerves; she was about to bury him alive.
His eyes were checking on her body from head to toe; she felt as if he were exposing her. She gutted and slowly sat on the floor.
"Do you have a boyfriend? If yes, then I'm so sorry about him," Ronald asked without waiting for her response. Her Kenny smile rose because many people made fun of her because she was too pretty to be single. And now that she had a husband, she could put them in their shoes.
"Let me clarify some points for you," Erika stated with a strong aura that showed her pride, but before she could speak, Ronald's phone rang.
"Yes, I will be there. Start preparing the operating room," Ronald said as he left Erika's apartment without saying a single word.
"This is unbearable; what the hell is with him? It's my fault to not put him within his limits," she stated while locking the balcony door. She was so angry that she forgot to check her phone.
By the morning, she heard a loud knock on her door. She hurried to open it to see a nice gentleman with so many boxes that seemed to be presents. It was five a.m.
"Madam Erika Diox," the man said while bowing for her in respect.
"Yes, this is Erika," she answered, as she was expecting that those gifts were from Mr. Rafael. The gentleman moved after putting the six boxes of gifts inside.
"Accepting his presents means accepting his feelings," Erika whispered as she thought that Rafael might love her. She did not open the gifts; she did not want to be distracted by them during her day, for she had much work to do and she needed to be fully focused.
Erika drove her car; the crowded highway made her five minutes late for her usual arrival time. She asked Jimson to bring her some important papers.
While she was waiting for him, she checked on her phone to be stunned by his message. Unconditionally, her phone had been dropped, and she was out of her senses for some seconds.
"Why is he back after those years? Didn't we get rid of him?" Erika repeated asking herself until her angry red eyes were bleeding.
"That's good for nothing, man," Erika said as she closed the curtains. She headed to the sofa and laid down to relax.
"Calm down, Erika." Erika sighed, then slowly breathed.
"Don't let him mess up your day." She talked to herself while Jimson demanded her permission to be in
"Yes, put them there, and prepare a meeting this week with Mr. Fasto to discuss the contract that he signed with us," she said, trying to look good.
"Kan is back; well, I'm not that weak lady any more." She hissed, Jimson made his way out, and Erika was overthinking what would happen if someone discovered her past life.
Before they moved to live with Mr. John, Erika and her mother had been under Mr. Kan mercy for two years, which was hell to Erika.
Redima knocked on the door; Erika didn't hear her, for she was sinking in her thoughts.
"Oh! You're here; how are you? I thought you wouldn't come today," Erika asked. She was surprised to see Redima herself in the office; she did notice when she got in.
"I'm sorry for interpreting your deep thoughts, but I had to talk to you; it's a personal issue," Redima stated with serious looks; her skin was pale. Erika turned and sat straight to focus on what she was going to say.
"It's about your husband," Redima said, while Erika's heart refused to pump and pulsed as usual. She swallowed her salvia to see a strange, worried look on Redima's eyes.
" Hello! Did I miss something?" Rafael said as he appeared before them. They just found him over their heads, and Erika got more suspension for his sudden arrival. From the look of fear on Redima's face, she could tell that something was wrong.
"What are you doing? Are you supposed to knock on the door first, Mr. Rafael?" Erika said with a harsh tone that, although he was her husband, manners were manners.
Rafael gazed at Redima with the edge of his eye; the cold look over him made the poor Redima lower her head.
"I'm sorry, Madam Erika; I will be having you later." Redima said that while she was trembling, she left them alone. Rafael shamelessly sat himself on the sofa next to Erika.
"Why are you not answering my calls?" Rafael asked, but Erika was thinking about Redima.
"What was she going to tell me?"
She said to herself that frozen features drew upon her face. Rafael waved his hand in front of her eyes; she seemed too focused, so he pulled her by the waist till their noses were in touch.
"Can I know what's on my wife's mind?" He whispered, Erika She woke up from her doubts; she did not want to go alone to the party yet, and she could not let what Redima said pass.
"I can't forgive those who betray me."
She stated that as she raised Mr. Rafael's chin, his eyes were swearing to her that he was innocent of her doubts and accusations against him.
"What's wrong with you? I came the whole way just to make sure that you're okay, and this is your response," Rafael said in a sad tone.
