Prologue
The boy could feel his heart beating rhythmically pulsing as he breathed in the cold air. He felt sensations he never felt before, feelings he could never have experienced, and thoughts that seemed as though they had forcefully integrated into his own. He got up and looked around for an answer to his inquiry. Where was he? What happened to him? What happened to his home?
Chapter 1: Dear Diary,
I know that I haven't written to you in a while but I thought I should probably write something down. It's been 2 years since I wrote. 2 years since my twelfth birthday. 2 years since I got my job. I decided to go work at Trillion who were always in need of a new pair of hands, if you know what I mean. In short, on my first day I mainly stayed with the other twelfths, I got to know them quite well and it was pretty exciting to finally be able to support the family, but soon I realised that it was all as easy as that. After only a week off I was overworked to the point of me not even being able to get up for work. Julia and the others expressed their concerns to me but I wasn't able to tell them that it was going to get better. I still owed it to our parents to be the guardian of our household and to put dinner on the table. The next week was better and as a reward for the work I put in and since it was the day of the winter solstice, Julia prepared an extravagant meal that added colour to the plastered grey walls covering our flat. I couldn't sleep. Thinking about the winter solstice made me think: Why do we celebrate those primordial beings, Why do we have to sit hear and suffer while they got to move on and were celebrated for that, Why aren't the normal people celebrated, Why are we the ones who get taken advantage of by the little hope left, Why. After about a year and a half, I was at my end's wit with the job before I noticed something, this was a company that was responsible for supplying power to more than half the world, why were there only labour workers. Where were the technicians? After a little digging, a little being a whole month's worth, I finally found the technical office and got a bit too curious. I went back at night and was able to use my card and my 'connection' with the receptionist to gain access as a part of the cleaning crew. As I walked into the office, I realised that everything was normal, not too normal, just normal. Everything looked about right, speaking from a non-scientific point of view. Then I saw the door, the door that changed my fate and wreaked havoc on destiny. The door slowly opened on well oiled hinges and what I saw shattered my very reality. Inside a massive chamber submerged in who knows what lay a being. This being was attached to the soil itself and seemed as though it belonged in a fairy-tale. "Oh, a new face, how … pleasant.". What is this thing? "Me? I am Gamab: God of Death and I am in the process of being reborn.", My curiosity got to me, "What do you mean?". Gamab's face distorted into something so cynical that I felt as though he had already killed me about a million times. "I will cleanse this planet of you disgusting beings and kill those insolent fools who trapped me in this predicament.". I ran from the place but was eventually caught and jailed by Trillion along with my family. Gamab will rebirth soon so I am filling in this diary for any humans that may survive, keep going, keep running, keep whatever hope you have and place it on your heart.
Goodbye to Julia, my brothers and sisters and all of you still out there, Zander Arvel.
