Zhang Mei stood outside the hospital exit, her mind still distracted by the image of her mother's frail figure. She had tried to act strong for her mother, but inside she was aching. Her mother's health had been declining rapidly, and Zhang Mei knew that it was only a matter of time before she lost her.
As she stood there, a black unlicensed car screeched to a halt in front of her. Two men got out and grabbed her, dragging her into the car before she could even react. Zhang Mei screamed and kicked, but the men were too strong. Passer-bys watched in horror as the car sped away.
Inside the car, Zhang Mei continued to struggle, but the men were relentless. One of them injected her with something, and after a few minutes, she felt her strength waning and her eyelids growing heavy. She tried to stay awake, but it was no use. She drifted off into unconsciousness.
