Levi smiled in pain as he looked at the paper in his hand. He wanted to tear the paper and feed it to the saint.
In the game, the saint always gave a hard mission, but it would only get progressively harder the more the character levelled up, which was reasonable.
However, this one, - 'He must think I am an S-rank assassin or something. Even Fiona wouldn't be able to properly sneak into the household without breaking a sweat.'
Levi could choose not to obey the mission, but that meant having an even harder time in the future. Siras and he weren't friends but strangers who had to cooperate.
Siras wanted Levi on his side, and Levi on the opposite. Both knew each other's weaknesses, but nobody would believe Levi's words.
A commoner and a royalty who also is the main man of the church had the difference between earth and heaven in their reputation and impact.
So all Levi could do was sigh and always believe he would complete this.
But one thing in the letter caught Levi's eyes. This time he smiled with joy.
[I have transferred 10 million Dale to your account. Make good use of it.]
'Finally, I can buy some good equipment without worrying about being homeless.'
Now that he was a part of the church, he could buy weapons and other potions without raising any suspicions. He could just say, "It will be used to carry out the will of the god," and almost nobody would raise an eyebrow.
Levi walked out of the door, bowing to the guards, and then headed to John's store. He walked into one of the fanciest weapon stores and started looking around.
John and his parrot Rika weren't moving too much these days. The curse wouldn't let John move much, and Rika looked after him. His businesses were being handled by his subordinates and his trustworthy friends, but they too didn't have much idea about him.
Levi had assigned a lesser eye to keep a watch on Jack. There was no need to see him, but only when they started travelling, and that day wasn't far off.
10 million Dale is a lot of money. It would feed a "normal" commoner family for more than 30 years without any trouble. Though the cost of good equipment would often be more than 5 million.
When checking the weapons and their stats, Levi found really good armour. It was an A-rank and it cost 100 million.
'Money was, is, and will always be the power. I need to get even richer.' Levi thought with a smirk, creeping out the clerk.
After thirty minutes, Levi bought a set of equipment made from a stone only found in a certain region, called brimstone. The material was rare but abundant in the place where it could be found.
The set consisted of armour, a dagger, a pair of gloves, and a helmet. The items looked like everyday armour worn by city guards roaming around the area, but the brimstone elevated it to the next level.
The wearable items were invisible after being worn and were light as well.
Since every item was made from brimstone, it created a good synergy.
[Galor of Brimstone.]
- Obtained when the user wears at least three items made from brimstone.
Effects:
1. 10% increase in speed.
2. 10% increase in damage.
3. Every attribute of the user will increase by 20% when used under the moonlight.
4. The user can go invisible as long as they feed all of the items with mana.
The set also came with a visible shield, so using it in stealth was out of the option.
Those five sets of items and ten C-rank bombs he bought came at a total of 9 million and 50 thousand with some discount.
At first, the clerk almost called the city knights. He found Levi suspicious but seeing the mark of Levi's palm made him realize his mistake.
"I'm sorry for the trouble. Please forgive my blasphemy. I truly am a believer in God. I am," the clerk said, adding some health potions for free. "Everybody makes mistakes, and God loves people who face them properly," Levi said, smiling and storing the item in his spatial ring, heading out.
Now all that was left was to use the teleportation gate again.
"How much is your allowance? You travel every week or so. And to different places," the guard at the teleportation gate said to Levi.
By now, they had seen Levi more than five times in a month using the gate. He always lied about travelling and would give the guard some souvenirs as well.
"I just fear my life will end without experiencing it; I just want to experience the beauty before dying."
Those heartfelt and sad sentences worked like always as the guard with a forced smile would let Levi in.
Like always, Levi experienced dizziness, and once he was through, he could notice a different kind of vibe in this area. Hilica, Uralitha, and Theon, every city he had visited, were different.
The House of Gemini was located on the east of the human kingdom, right beside Uralitha, where the Bravestone house governed.
But the Geminis weren't the main governor even after having the noble status of Marquess with them.
They were below Gabriel's family, the Dexers who have the title of Duke were governing the state.
The architecture, the way the city looked, and even the number of people were diverse. This city, Rudal, that lay under the Yungar state looked similar and different at the same time.
People walked and talked like normal. The shops were packed with everything that could be found in other cities as well.
The alleys were filled with rats and crows picking on the trash.
Levi couldn't see it nor describe it properly, but it felt 'Too normal.'
However, humanity knew it would never reach perfection but striving towards it is what made humans one of the strongest races to ever exist.
Humanity always seeks perfection and never stops. This would go on until the end of humanity.
It was clear someone was messing with the mana in the whole area. And Levi knew who was behind it.
The House of Gemini was about a kilometre away from the teleportation gate. But the house itself was more than two km wide and long.
Levi walked towards the House of Gemini for fifteen minutes. Levi did get the items to be invisible, but having that power didn't mean infiltration was easy.
The mansion from all four sides was surrounded, and a large wall over twenty meters tall blocked the area. Not only that, five barriers covered the outer walls.
Inside the wall, fifty guards stood there, waiting for something to happen, and nothing had happened in the last 100 years.
The residents walking around the mansion would just walk about a hundred meters away, even when the land didn't belong to the Gemini's.
Every mansion of nobles had such security, not to this level but infiltrating would be difficult and impossible when they slapped you with this much security.
'The main problem is the barriers.' Levi's mirror magic could destroy the barriers like he did back in Uran, inside the sewers, but that process would take a lot of time and create an unignorable noise.
The guards wouldn't just stay still, hearing a loud banging
sound in the air and watch the barrier crackling down.
The barriers were A-rank because having an S-rank barrier isn't possible unless one gets a high-rank mage to create it for them every year. That process took a lot of money and resources so stacking A-rank barriers like this proved more sufficient.
Levi looked around the surrounding area almost 500 meters away from the mansion. He climbed up the tallest building that didn't have much of an eye around it.
'Time to use it.'
Levi took in a deep breath and whispered, "A life for life."
*Ting* The red screen popped up in front of Levi, showcasing his life span and weird writings. Levi spawned two of his lesser eyes and sent them meters away to check if anyone would notice him.
In addition to that, he used Sense for further precaution.
He then activated his hunter's eyes and looked at the barrier and thought, 'How much life span do I need to create a hole in those five barriers?'
The red screen resonated with his thoughts and showed a message, [A week].
Without any hesitation, Levi took out his bow and arrow. He pulled it back pointing at the mansion exactly where he wanted the hole.
If anybody looked at the tower Levi stood at, they would see a red screen, a bow, and an arrow floating about. That wouldn't be magic but witchcraft itself.
[Do you want to use 7 days of your life span?] The screen asked, and without hesitating, Levi replied, 'Yes.'
The central eye pulled Levi's ears with its feet, but Levi wouldn't stop. The cute devil didn't want to see its master take his own life away.
But it was already too late.
Without getting a single cut on his finger, blood started coming out, covering the whole arrow.
A heavy sensation blocked Levi's consciousness, and he started to drift away and the arrow also from his hand.
The arrow flew into the red screen breaking it, adding some sort of magic to it, then flew right into the mansion.
Not only was the arrow fast but silent and more importantly, it was invisible. Levi unconsciously lost his footing as he started to fall.
The two lesser eyes could only watch their master fall as the central eye tried pulling him, which was no use.
[Get up master.. GET UP] The central eye screamed into Levi's mind.
Levi with his drifting consciousness said a mantra.
'I...I am conscious.'
Essence activated, giving him a split second to register what was happening.
Attaching his strings to the building, Levi used it like a spider web, slowing his fall.
Without breaking his bones, Levi landed on his feet and started to chant another mantra, 'I am faster than a jet, no faster than sound itself.'
Essence again activated, this time boosting his speed by a staggering 80%. Levi ran towards the mansion. He climbed up the wall.
Though he couldn't see the arrow, he knew it had done its job as he felt a hole inside those five-layered barriers.
Levi sprinted towards the hole. He jumped down and in that process quickly created five mirror objects that perfectly sealed those holes.
Doing so would take the barrier longer to regenerate and not let the guards feel anything off.
This wasn't a spying mission anymore. Levi had jumped into a demon's mouth. He had to escape it while also finding its weakness.
Even in this dire situation, Levi kept calm as a shivering sensation ran down his spine. With his life spread on a thin line, he couldn't help but be excited.
'I really have become an M.'
