I was so busy singing the documents when my phone just kept on ringing.
I was so annoyed that it won't stop so I picked it up and answered the call.
"Paul! For God's sake! You should have forgotten you have a wife! She is dying now!" Mom shouted angrily on the other line.
I froze when I heard the news and immediately got up from my chair.
"Where is she?" I immediately asked.
"Emergency room," Mom coldly answered and ended the call.
I ran out of my office and my secretary happily met me outside.
"What can I do for you sir?" she asked temptingly.
I suddenly lost my control and gripped her blouse.
"Go home!" I sternly told her and left the office.
I needed to be there for my wife.
What happened to her?
I did not know she was not feeling well the past days, or even months.
I suddenly realized then that I had not even fulfilled my promise to her that I would bring her to Japan in the spring.
