From the beginning, Hana and Rose could hear all of Herris' conversations with Eric, Noam and Zane. Although they were quite far away, their voices were loud enough to be heard from their hiding place.
The two of them and Arion could also hear Herris and Zane discussing the function of the black pill the enemy had swallowed.
Rose clicked her tongue, "This pill will cause chaos in the future."
The very existence of the pill might make people think that there is no need to work hard to become strong, that they can just rely on the pill to make them strong. Making hard work a waste of time.
Hana nodded with a worried expression, "Especially if the enemies have it."
That was the most worrying thing. It wasn't that they only wanted the pill for their own side. In fact, they would prefer that the pill never exist forever.
It was just that if the enemies, especially the royal rebels or people who did not like the current system of the king, had the pill, there would be an internal war. Many lives would be lost.
Meanwhile, Arion was daydreaming with his mind busy, 'Magic pills?'
From what he heard, it seemed that the pill was too strong. It was too insidious and shameless.
His forehead frowned deeply, 'Does this mean that the other two also have the pill?'
Then his eyes widened slightly, 'Was that explosion earlier?'
Arion remembered that just after Nova had created the lightning wall that separated them, there had been a sudden explosion sound and energy levels like Herris had experienced.
'What about the other intruders in the palace? Isn't it chaotic outside the barrier as well?' He thought worriedly.
Is that why help hasn't arrived yet? There was no way that a barrier dome of this size could go unnoticed by the people outside.
Arion looked at his brother and his friends who were still talking to Herris, 'How are they going to defeat him now? Especially now that they are injured and the enemy's strength is growing.'
Seeing that the trio's condition wasn't very good, as they were holding a large steel rod with their magically imbued swords, they didn't look like they were able to continue fighting, especially since their hands were injured now.
Probably because the collision between their movement and the enemy's movement was too strong, their magic had little effect on themselves. At least, their injuries were only on their hands and did not spread to the rest of their body. But because of that, their grip on the sword would not be as strong as before.
When they heard Noam getting angry and insulting the enemy, the three of them, especially Rose and Arion, couldn't help but be stunned. His actions were either reckless or too bold.
"Noam has gone mad." Rose muttered in disbelief. She had noticed from the beginning that Noam was very open to annoying the enemy. But this was the first time she had seen Noam insult an enemy directly.
Arion swallowed nervously, 'He's too ruthless. But he also looks angry, although I don't really understand why he's so angry.'
Rose let out a loud sigh and muttered in annoyance, "Why does he have to provoke the enemy when they're being pushed around?"
"Those aren't just words of provocation." Hana's words made Rose turn to her. Arion looked up from his sister's embrace.
"What do you mean?"
Hana hummed quietly, trying to find the right answer, "I don't know how to explain it. Let Noam explain later."
Arion's curiosity was piqued and he refrained from snorting, 'My curiosity is in vain.'
Rose raised a curious eyebrow, "You trust Noam a lot."
Hana giggled, forgetting their still precarious situation for a moment, "I know Noam. Even though he's loud and always overexcited, I know he's serious about his dreams." She said with a small smile.
"His dream?"
"To become a great king and one of the most powerful people in the world. He also wants to defeat Uncle Oscar with his own strength." She replied confidently as her smile widened slightly.
It might sound strange because the one who said it was a child and the one he wanted to defeat was an adult who had many times the experience.
Most people would think that it was impossible. But Hana believed that it would happen in the future. After all, the job of a child is to surpass his parents, right? Much like her brother.
Hana looked back at Noam who was held back by Eric and Zane from facing the enemy recklessly, "That's why he was angry that there was a powerful person who said that as long as he won, it didn't matter if he had to use the pill as a shortcut."
Hana looked at Rose, "It feels like this person doesn't appreciate the fairness of the fight. It feels like the pride of the strong people who worked hard has been trampled and insulted. That's why he's angry."
Rose was silent as she thought about Hana's words. It was true, if you thought about it deeply, what Hana said was true. Rose always concentrated on the training. But she didn't know much about real fighting.
Rose snorted amusedly, "He's more serious than I thought."
Hana giggled, "After all, we're still children. There's nothing strange about children being carefree and free."
"Like you?" Rose asked bluntly. She didn't know why she said it so easily. She usually guarded her words well because she didn't want to be perceived as a rude princess.
But honestly, she did it unconsciously. She had never felt so free to say what she thought without fear of someone taking offense because she knew she didn't mean to be rude.
Hana just shrugged her shoulders with an embarrassed smile, not feeling offended by Rose's words. On the contrary, she was well aware of it and didn't care.
After all, her brother was too quiet, too lonely, she didn't like it. So she unconsciously became talkative so that the atmosphere between them would not always be silent.
Rose paused for a moment, "In case you've forgotten, we are not ordinary children. We are children of kings, children of royalty. We have great responsibilities even at a young age." She said flatly, back to her old self.
"But that doesn't mean that we are forbidden to act like normal children, does it?" Hana's answer earned her a surprised look. Hana smiled when she noticed her friend's look.
"If you're afraid of being ridiculed by other nobles, at least do it in front of your parents. They'll be happy," she continued with a smile.
Her parents didn't care if she and her brother acted like normal kids in public. Arsen and Natalie just wanted the twins to be free without worrying about others.
Hana knew that meant her father would take care of anyone who dared to tease her and Eric. Ah, Hana missed him. It felt like a very long time since she had last seen her father.
Rose gave up with a small snort, "You're too talkative."
Hana replied with a small laugh, "I know. And I'm not ashamed of it."
Rose simply shook her head before looking away from Hana, trying to hide the smile that slowly, if very thinly, appeared on her lips. She wasn't used to smiling.
The atmosphere between them became peaceful for a moment, in contrast to the atmosphere between Eric, Noam, Zane and Herris. Even for a moment, the two of them forgot about the situation that was pushing them all.
Arion, who had been watching their interaction from the beginning, simply sighed in relief, 'Looks like they're getting along.'
He really didn't know much about friendships. But seeing Rose start to smile because of Hana, even though she was still hiding it, didn't mean that they were getting closer?
On second thought, it seemed that Hana had no female friends other than Rose. Perhaps her status as a princess had hindered her. It is difficult to make friends with other princesses, let alone those who are not princesses. They must be too respectful or have other intentions towards her.
Remembering that Hana had said earlier that she wasn't close to Rose because she was too quiet and always kept her distance, Arion briefly thought that everything that happened tonight didn't end well.
On the other hand, Eric had Zane and Noam as friends, although Noam was often called his rival, but at least the three of them seemed close.
Arion quickly dismissed his thoughts. No matter what, tonight's attack was very bad. They could all easily lose their lives.
Arion exhaled deeply and tried to clear his mind, 'Focus!'
He tried to see what was happening on the battlefield, ignoring Hana and Rose with their silent but uncomfortable atmosphere. The two of them still had a long way to go to become close friends.
Arion looked at Eric and Zane, who were holding back Noam, who was still yelling at Herris, whose expression was slowly getting worse.
Arion grimaced inwardly, 'Stop yelling at him and get more information.'
But when he heard Noam's last insult, Arion could barely hold back a resigned groan, 'We're so screwed.'
It looked like they were about to get a tantrum from Herris, who had an enhanced version of his powers. Nothing would end well after pissing him off.
Arion could only hope that no one would die tonight.
