Chapter 60 - 60. Fire and Ice

Eric, Hana and Rose looked at Noam and Zane with wide-eyed shock. Noam's body was surrounded by an aura of fire, while Zane's body was surrounded by an aura of ice.

"Noam?"

"Zane?"

Arion stared in awe at the merging of their aura colors, 'Their magic is opposite, but it looks so unified right now. It's like their magic auras are merging and working together to defeat the enemy.'

Dean whistled in admiration, "They both awakening magic as well? How cool!" He praised enthusiastically, but the wide grin that contained madness said otherwise.

Hans groaned in annoyance, "This time it's ice and fire. Why are these kids getting more annoying by the minute?"

Just as he was about to attack Noam and Zane, Nova quickly stopped him. She was both proud and worried for the two boys. But she didn't have time to worry about them right now. She was busy trying to get the two men in front of her away from the children.

Noam looked at his hand, which had a small flame in it in admiration, "Do you feel that, Zane?"

Zane nodded with the same awe-struck expression Noam had, "Yes. It's like a new energy is flowing through my body."

While Noam's body felt warm, almost hot, Zane's felt very cold. But strangely enough, it didn't affect them in a negative way. Instead, it gave them new energy to keep fighting.

Noam and Zane looked at each other before nodding seriously, "Let's do this."

Eric stared at them dumbfounded, "You guys..."

He was speechless as he watched the two summon their magic. Could this be called a coincidence? But he was amazed and proud of them. Finally, they could fight together. Not that he would tell them that.

Zane knelt beside Eric and patted his shoulder. His touch was cold, even through his clothes. But since it felt good, he didn't protest too much.

Zane smiled reassuringly at his friend, "Rest, Eric. Let us take care of this."

Noam slapped Eric's back hard enough to make him wince. When Eric turned to look at him sharply, he saw Noam grinning at him.

"Let's swap players for a while before you come back!" Noam said confidently. After all, he knew that his rival wouldn't be idle for long.

Eric paused before chuckling amusedly. Of course he would trust his two friends completely. They must have figured it out without him saying it directly.

Eric snorted, "I won't be long. Now go take care of the big guy."

Noam and Zane nodded solemnly before facing the place where Herris had been thrown earlier. They could hear his angry roar from where they stood. It seemed that Herris was thrown farther this time than before.

"Damn brat!"

Herris landed far in front of them with an angry growl. His body was covered in scorch marks and ice shards.

Herris clenched his hands into bloody fists with an angry growl, "I'll kill you all!"

Noam and Zane brandished their swords, already covered in flames and ice vapor, "Get past us first!"

The two of them attacked Herris at a fast pace. Fortunately, they ran to the right and left of Herris, so they could also attack from both directions.

Herris flicked his hand vigorously to him right, where Noam created a strong gust of wind to get rid of the flames, before slashing at Zane.

Fortunately, Zane was able to dodge and countered by slashing at Herris with his sword. Herris took a few steps back to avoid it.

Unfortunately, it was Noam who managed to dodge the gust of wind Herris created and prepared to strike back. He powerfully slashed a large gash across Herris' back, causing him to scream in pain.

Noam and Zane jumped back as Herris was still able to punch the ground to keep them away while she was still preoccupied with the pain and heat on his back.

Without waiting long, the two returned to attack Herris, who was back on his feet, ignoring the wound on his back that was also beginning to bleed profusely with black spots from the fire.

Dean whistled in admiration, "I want to join their fight!"

He jumped back with Hans as the yellow bolt of lightning almost hit both of them.

Nova glared at her two enemies. Her hands were still covered in lightning sparks, "I won't let you do this!"

Dean pretended to frown, causing Nova to frown in disgust, "Even though I wanted to experiment with them a bit."

Nova clicked her tongue in annoyance, "You're so disgusting."

Dean just shrugged indifferently with a big smile on his lips. Hans just rolled his eyes, but the grin on his lips proved that he was also eager to test the boys' magic.

Back to Herris, he now prepared to land his punches on Noam and Zane, who were caught off guard in front of him. She put all her composure into her punches this time.

"Die!"

Unknown to Herris, it turned out that the two were only trapping him by pretending to be careless. Just as the fist was about to hit him, Noam and Zane deftly dodged it and slashed their magic-infused swords at Herris' right and left arms.

Immediately, Herris' right and left sides burned and froze, causing her to scream in pain. She frantically rubbed her hands together to get rid of the fire and ice.

"AGH! HOT! COLD!" He screamed in pain as he tried to remove both magic effects on her right and left arms. It felt like they had been burned to a crisp and frozen into her muscles.

The pain this time was worse than the lightning strike Herris had received. Maybe it was because the attack that hit them this time was a combined attack, not a single attack. Which meant that the attack was twice as powerful.

Noam grinned happily as Zane breathed a sigh of relief when their attack hit Herris hard. This would temporarily distract his attention as they caught their breath, which was starting to run out.

Noam nudged Zane next to him, "What if I barbecue him and then you freeze his whole body, Zane?"

Zane frowned disapprovingly as he wiped the sweat from his cheeks, "I'm not so sure that would work. Don't forget she has incredible stamina."

Noam snorted, "But that doesn't mean there's no limit, right?" He asked defiantly, raising his eyebrows arrogantly. But that doesn't mean he's not prepared.

Zane shook his head resignedly, but still said seriously to his friend, "Don't overdo it, Noam. Our body condition shouldn't be much different from Eric's if we use too much magic. So we have to be careful."

Noam fell silent before he let out a long groan. He crouched down while holding his sword in front of him, "Ugh, that's right..."

"But it can't hurt to try." Zane's continued words made Noam look up quickly. He smiled broadly when he saw the small smile on Zane's lips, a sign that he would follow his plan.

Noam jumped up enthusiastically, "Very good!"

"AGH! SO ANNOYING!" The yell made them both gasp in shock.

Without the two of them noticing, Herris had put away the fire and ice on his arm and attacked Noam and Zane, who were caught off guard. He didn't even care about him already blackened and pale arm.

"Dodge!"

Noam was able to pull Zane in time to jump away from Herris' attack. He winced in pain. Surely that blow would make a big hole. What if they were hit by the monster's fist? They'd be crushed.

Zane grimaced in horror, "His endurance is insane!''

Herris withdrew his fist from the deep hole she had just made with a single punch. His face was red with anger, not from the heat of Noam's fire.

"Come here!" He roared angrily, his other fist ready to be aimed at the two children.

Before he could act, another bolt of blue lightning struck him, knocking him back. He shouted in frustration as his attacks were repeatedly thwarted.

"Huh?" Noam was stunned by the scene. Even he was impatient as the flames surrounding his sword slowly dissipated.

"Eric!" Instead, Zane greeted Eric, who ran over to them happily. He dispelled the icy vapor that enveloped his sword.

Eric stopped in front of them and caught his breath. He smirked at his two friends, "You guys need some help?"

Before Zane could answer, Noam pushed him aside, "Wait! Are you okay?"

His eyes scanned his rival's body, trying to find any injuries on Eric. He wasn't too sure about Eric whose energy suddenly seemed to be replenished.

Eric nodded, "Surprisingly, yes. But that's not important right now."

He motioned for his two friends to look back. They complied and could see the silhouettes of Hana and Rose hiding behind the nearby bushes.

"Hana and Rose have moved away and hidden, but they can still keep an eye on us. I've also secured Emily's body. We don't have to worry about our attack hitting her."

They fell silent when they heard his last sentence. But they still smiled at Eric, not really disagreeing with his decision. They had bigger problems at the moment.

Noam grinned before elbowing Eric lightly, "So? Ready for who knows how many rounds in the full version?"

Zane chuckled softly and shook his head in resignation. Still, he nodded firmly. He was ready to rejoin the fight anytime.

Eric snorted and rolled his eyes, but did not protest Noam's words. They were different now, stronger than before. With their newly awakened magic, the result should be different this time. They will win!

Blue sparks of lightning began to surround Eric's sword. Flames began to envelop Noam's sword. Ice vapor began to envelop Zane's sword.

They are ready to fight together to the end!
