Nix heard heavy knocks on his door; he got up from his bed and pushed open the door. He didn't know what had happened to the princess, and he didn't care to know. Whatever had her looking the way she was at the moment was not something ordinary.
Nix dragged her inside with one pull before he closed the door; he noticed someone move from the shadows. To check out the person would only result in leaving a vulnerable princess who ran to him for help. Nix thought it was wiser to know what was going on first.
Kitanna stood at the point where she was dragged; her feet and whole body kept trembling in fear. What she had seen earlier looked too real to be a dream; even her breathing was laboured, she felt like her head was still dipped inside the water. The thought of it made her bring her hand close to her chest.
