Axilla sat outside her room, hands placed on her side, gazing upon the night sky. All day she had been waiting for a reply from the palace, but none came. It worried her that Lady Hash did not arrive safely or things were not well back at the palace. These thoughts kept her worried and awake, so she sat outside alone in the dark.
"Axilla?" The young girl turned when she heard Cortez's voice from behind.
"Chief Cortez," Axilla stood up and bowed respectfully, despite knowing how the man felt about her; it didn't change their status. He was someone above her class, and she had to respect that no matter how playful he appeared.
"You couldn't sleep? Do you still need me to stay beside you at night?" Cortez teased the young girl.
Axilla waved her hand shyly, "It was just a one-time occurrence, Young Master. I can sleep perfectly on my own now." She replied, blushing at the straightforward words of Cortez.
