Axilla's heart skipped a different beat from the usual rhythm caused by fear as she stared into Cortez's eyes. How was he the one carrying her? The young girl asked herself.
Cortez held the girl he was carrying firmly as he walked towards an isolated place in the port. He knelt down and gently placed Axilla on the ground, removing his jacket; he used it to cover the girl's body as she was already shivering because of cold as her dress was not thick enough.
Axilla sat there on the ground, still unable to move because of whatever the initial man forced her to inhale; all she could do was to move her eyes and watch as Cortez draped a jacket over her shoulders.
Cortez watched the girl for a moment, retrieving a vial from his pocket. He opened it, trying to feed her, but Axilla's lips were not able to move.
