Bareea walked through the palace passage, carrying her son close to her chest. When she got to a particular door, she knocked earnestly. After some time, a woman's voice was heard.
"Who?" Larel donned her jacket over her shoulder and went to open the door. She saw Bareea standing in front of her door with her child sleeping on her chest.
Bareea pressed her lips for a moment, "Can I come in?" She asked politely.
Larel was taken aback; the last time they had encountered Bareea had drawn a line in their relationship. Seeing her now in front of her doorstep made her worried.
"Come in," she moved to the side to allow the woman to step inside.
Bareea walked inside the room, sitting down on a chair without waiting to be ushered in.
Larel sat on the other side of the chair, her eyes moving from Bareea down to look at the sleeping child.
