Axilla tried to wriggle her hands away from Cortez; if the fight was finally over, then it's okay for her to show her face.
Cortez held her tightly. "Easy there, little bird."
Axilla pleaded with her eyes, "Let me go back to the princess. I don't want to leave her side anymore."
Cortez took note of how she didn't complain about traveling with him but only wanted to stay beside the princess. "As much as your eyes look very alluring for me to accept your wish. For now, the princess needs time to gather herself; until then, you'll stay with me."
