Chapter 42 - Biological Lifeforms

Asher and Felix initiated their assault. Raijin and Fujin swiftly sliced through the Biological Lifeform, but to their surprise, the creature's body regenerated, giving rise to two identical entities.

"Tskk, this is bad," expressed Asher in frustration as the mechs faced an unexpected challenge. The Biological Lifeform's ability to regenerate posed a formidable obstacle, escalating the intensity of the battle.

The Biological Lifeform abruptly transformed, shaping itself into a colossal fist that hardened before striking Raijin. The impact created an incredible shockwave, sending Raijin crashing into the wall. "Aghhh!" exclaimed Asher in response to the powerful blow, feeling the force of the attack reverberate through his mech. The unexpected transformation showcased the unpredictable nature of the Biological Lifeform, intensifying the struggle for the mechs.

Felix, frustrated, exclaimed, "Brother!... Damn you!" as Fujin's thrusters ignited, rushing toward the Biological Lifeform. However, GENESIS managed to intervene, pushing Fujin away.

"What's wrong, Joseph!" said Felix in surprise after GENESIS intervened.

Joseph responded calmly, "Be careful, Felix. We can't predict their moves. I have a plan, but first, you must save Asher."

Joseph continued, "Activate your ability, Felix. Fujin can create illusions, right? This is our chance to save Asher."

Suddenly, Eliza interrupted, her voice coming over their comms, "I've managed to contact the scientist. Her name is Maria, and she's in the security room. Maria will provide you with the information you need."

As Maria continued, her voice resonated through their comms, a mixture of urgency and determination. "Hello? Can you hear me? Anyway... GENESIS, Fujin, this Biological Lifeforms has a weakness."

Felix inquired with a sense of anticipation, "What is their weakness?"

Maria swiftly responded, "Their weakness is heat. Now, here's the plan: we're going to blow up this laboratory. I will increase the temperature, causing the laboratory to self-destruct. Your task is to pick me up, and we run. But before that, you have to save Asher. Once he's safe, we'll proceed with my plan." Her voice carried the weight of the imminent danger and the hope for a solution in the midst of chaos.

As GENESIS and Hell Brothers execute the plan, Felix activates Fujin's illusionary ability. The surroundings become a dance of reflections, confusing the Biological Lifeforms. Fujin, now appearing as mirror images alongside GENESIS, moves swiftly to rescue Raijin.

In the midst of the chaos, Asher regains consciousness, finding himself surrounded by illusions. Felix promptly briefs him on their plan. Meanwhile, Joseph contemplates an even more strategic approach.

"Maria, I've got a better plan," Joseph communicates through the comms.

Maria's voice responds, "What's the plan?"

Joseph reveals, "My plan is to let Asher and Felix go first. They will rescue you."

Eliza, intrigued by Joseph's decision, interrupts, "What are you going to do, Joseph?"

Joseph replied with determination, "While Asher, Felix, and Maria make their escape, I'll buy some time by slicing through those Biological Lifeforms. They might regenerate, and more will appear, but it will take a time for them to begin their move."

As the illusionary confusion continues, Joseph prepares to face the relentless Biological Lifeforms, providing a window for the escape of his comrades.

Eliza, recognizing the perilous plan, responded with a hint of concern, "A risky move, Joseph, but if anyone can pull it off, it's you. Just be careful."

With determination, Joseph nodded. Maria initiated the alarm, triggering a gradual rise in the laboratory's temperature.

Maria explained to Joseph, "Once the temperature peaks, the laboratory will explode in 5 minutes." As Asher securely held Maria within Raijin's control system, the two mechs, Raijin and Fujin, prepared for a swift exit.

Meanwhile, Joseph geared up, knowing the gravity of his impending sacrifice. Unexpectedly, GENESIS spoke within his mind, its tone echoing a sense of humor, "Hahahah, sacrificing yourself for the others?"

Joseph responded to GENESIS with a determined resolve, "Sometimes sacrifices are necessary for the greater good. And yes, you're an integral part of this plan."

As GENESIS responded, "Fine then! Let's see how well you're gonna handle this," Joseph couldn't help but smile. The camaraderie between him and GENESIS was evident as they prepared to face the escalating threat.

As GENESIS unleashed its blade, the metallic edge cut through the Biological Lifeforms with a speed that echoed in the air. Half of the entities fell apart, but the remaining ones quickly regenerated, multiplying in number. The dance of destruction continued as GENESIS relentlessly sliced through the horde.

The temperature inside the laboratory steadily climbed, reaching its maximum level. An urgent alarm echoed through the facility. Joseph wasted no time and began his escape, his footsteps echoing in the metallic corridors.

However, just as he thought the worst was over, a chilling realization struck him. The Biological Lifeforms, seemingly defeated, started to fuse together. Their forms intertwined and morphed into a colossal entity, towering over GENESIS. This new, massive form showed a determination to pursue and destroy.

Joseph felt a surge of adrenaline as he and GENESIS make an escape through the labyrinthine corridors, the colossal amalgamation of Biological Lifeforms relentlessly chasing him. The chase added a thrilling and heart-pounding element to the already tense situation.

As the pursuit intensified, Joseph's mind raced, desperately seeking a solution to outsmart the relentless Biological Lifeforms.

With the odds stacked against him, Joseph's eyes darted around, searching for any advantage he could exploit.

A surge of inspiration struck him – the ceiling. He engaged GENESIS's thrusters, propelling the mech upward, narrowly avoiding the grasp of the pursuing entity. In a daring move, Joseph targeted the structure above, unleashing a barrage of energy projectiles that sent shudders through the foundations.

As the projectiles hit their mark, the ceiling above began to crumble and give way. Suspended debris cascaded downward, creating a chaotic obstacle course for the chasing Biological Lifeforms. The suspense heightened as Joseph skillfully navigated GENESIS through the falling wreckage, narrowly avoiding the unpredictable patterns of debris.

The echoing roars of the pursuing entity resonated through the confined space, adding to the tension. In a moment, Joseph executed a last-minute maneuver, causing a massive section of the ceiling to collapse directly onto the pursuing Biological Lifeforms.

With a deafening crash, Joseph seized the opportunity, utilizing every ounce of GENESIS's power to propel himself out of the collapsing laboratory just in the nick of time.

The escape brought a breath of relief, but the suspense lingered as the aftermath of the explosion echoed through the empty space.

Asher's voice resonated with gratitude, "Joseph, you did it. We owe you this time. Next, we promise we're going to pay you back."

Felix chimed in, "Phew, that was a last-minute move, Joseph. You've earned my respect."

Just as the team began to exhale the tension, Eliza's voice over the comms added another layer of complexity, "Good job, everyone." However, her tone shifted abruptly, revealing a sense of urgency, "Hold on, everyone. These creatures are still alive."

"Incoming!" exclaimed Eliza. Suddenly, the Biological Lifeform emerged from the wreckage of the laboratory, but this time its appearance had evolved.

Maria expressed her surprise, "What?! It evolved?"

Eliza responded, "Looks like its skin has changed."

As Felix initiated his first move, attacking the evolved Biological Lifeform, the creature deftly deflected every strike. Felix, taken aback, exclaimed in shock, "What?!"

Maria, keenly observing the Biological Lifeform's evolving skin, added, "Looks like the skin can turn into obsidian."

Asher, puzzled, questioned, "Obsidian?!" Joseph remained silent, contemplating their next move, as the revelation about the creature's adaptable and formidable obsidian-like defense heightened the tension.
