Kaito Chapter 86
"Big brother!" Naruto exclaimed happily as he hugged Kaito.
"Hey there, Naruto," Kaito greeted him as the young boy.
Kaito turned to his mother and asked, "Mom, what are you both doing here?" Though seeing the basket, he already knew the answer.
Kushina smiled and replied, "You forgot your lunch at home, yknow! So, we were bringing you your launch and I thought we could have a picnic while we are at it yknow."
As if on cue, Kaito's stomach rumbled loudly, causing him to blush sheepishly. Kushina chuckled and said, "Looks like you're hungry. Come help me set up the picnic blanket."
….
As the late morning sun shone over the hidden leaf village, a festive air seemed to surround it. The village was abuzz with excitement as the Chunin Exam finals were just around the corner.
In the training ground nearest to the Uzumaki residence, Kaito lay on the ground, exhausted and covered in cuts and nicks, his hands trembling in frustration. Beside him stood one of his shadow clones, holding a scroll in hand, the surrounding area littered with deep holes from his failed attempts.
Kaito let out a frustrated sigh and exclaimed, "I can't do it," Kaito groaned, "No matter what I try, I can't form the wind release Rasengan with just one hand."
The clone holding the scroll replied, "Perhaps you are approaching it from the wrong angle, boss."
He continued reading from the scroll, "Dad wrote that he had to use a 3 to 1 ratio to add his nature transformation into his Rasengan."
"What do you think I've been doing?" Kaito retorted irritably.
But the shadow clone persisted, "Yes, but why not try the opposite? Instead of adding 3 parts wind chakra to 1 part normal chakra, why not do the opposite?"
Kaito furrowed his brow and looked at the clone with a mixture of annoyance and curiosity. "Why would I do that? We already got the windstyle Rasengan working with the use of a shadow clone using the same ratio," he said skeptically.
The clone tilted its head and replied, "But the Rasengan becomes unstable when you try to add wind chakra to it. So why not reduce it and get used to it first?"
Kaito considered this for a moment, his mind buzzing with possibilities. "Huh, that might just work," he thought to himself as he stood up and held out his right palm facing upwards.
Chakra gathered in his hand, and Kaito watched as it started to rotate and take form. The chakra rapidly spun, taking on the size of a small basketball. But then Kaito added wind nature chakra into it, causing the Rasengan to slowly change color to light green.
A ring of chakra formed around the Rasengan as Kaito continued to infuse it with wind nature energy. A high-pitched sound filled the training ground as the Rasengan grew in power.
"It finally worked!" Kaito exclaimed with excitement shining in his eyes as he looked down at the green wind release Rasengan in his hand.
The clone cocked its head in confusion. "Huh, why does it look different from others?"
Kaito shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly. "I think it's because of the different ratio," he replied as he let go of the Rasengan, watching as it dissipated into thin air.
The clone looked at Kaito with curiosity, asking, "Why did you cancel it?"
"I wanted to try it again and make sure it wasn't just a fluke," Kaito replied, gathering chakra in his hand once more to create the wind-release Rasengan.
As he succeeded in forming the powerful jutsu, Kaito's eyes gleamed with determination. "Let's see what this can do," he said confidently before launching the Rasengan towards a tree in the training ground.
The wind release Rasengan sliced through the air and struck the tree, cutting it cleanly in half before exploding and creating a small dome of destruction. But as Kaito examined the damage with a frown, Kaito muttered, "It seems weaker than the other variation."
His clone nodded in agreement. "Hai, it may be weaker, but it also seems less straining on your body," it pointed out, glancing at Kaito's hands.
Lost in thought, Kaito hummed before turning to his left and addressing someone standing there. "How long are you planning on standing there?" he asked casually.
The figure turned out to be Kakashi, dressed in his casual ANBU attire with a book in hand. He hopped down gracefully from the tree branch he had been perched on and landed beside Kaito with a friendly "Yo" and an eye smile.
Kaito shifted his gaze to Kakashi and couldn't resist asking, "How long have you been there?" His shadow clone handed him back the scroll before dispersing itself.
Kakashi simply shrugged. "Not that long. Looks like you managed to add your nature transformation to the Rasengan," he remarked, glancing at Kaito over his book.
Kaito shrugged nonchalantly and spoke to Kakashi, "It's not exactly what I had in mind, but it's still progress." He then asked, "Did you just come back from a mission?"
Kakashi nodded, his gaze still focused on the book in his hand. "Hai, just returned a few hours ago and happened to be nearby so I decided to stop by." He paused and looked up from his book to ask, "Speaking of which, why aren't you resting? The Chunin finals are tomorrow."
Kaito hummed thoughtfully before responding, "I just wanted to get some training in. Ya know"
He then asked Kakashi with a more serious tone, "Found any leads on Lady Tsunade?"
For the past two years, Kaito had been searching for Tsunade, hoping to convince her to heal his mother's condition. At first, he thought it would be an easy task, but he soon realized that she was skilled at hiding her tracks. Even Naruto and Jiraiya had only stumbled upon her by sheer luck in the original timeline.
Kakashi sighed and shook his head. "She was sighted near the Land of Tea a few months ago, but the trail has gone cold since then."
A feeling of defeat washed over Kaito as he let out a heavy sigh. "Well, let me know if you hear anything else."
As he gazed at the evening sky, Kaito began to walk away from the training ground. while walking away, he turned back and said to Kakashi, "I should get going. See you tomorrow."
He made his way through the trees, leaping from branch to branch with practiced ease.
In just a few minutes, Kaito arrived at his modest home. He pushed open the door and called out, "Mom, I'm home!" His mother emerged from the living room, dressed in a vibrant red kimono, while his brother was seated on the couch wearing an orange yukata.
"Ah, you're late Kai-kun," his mother scolded playfully. "Quickly go take a bath and put on the yukata I set on your bed. Or we might be late for lunch."
Excitedly jumping off the couch, Naruto exclaimed, "Kai-nii! Hurry up! We're going to Ichiraku Ramen for lunch! Believe it!"
With a sheepish smile on his face, Kaito scratched the back of his head and nodded. "Hai hai, I'll be ready in 5 minutes," he replied before rushing off to get ready for their family outing.
