Kaito Chapter 20: Kushina's Announcement
It was a splendid day in the Hidden Leaf Village. The dawn of the new year had just unfolded, and the villagers were filled with hope for a continuation of the prevailing peace. Among them was Kaito Uzumaki, a four-year-old bundle of energy, eager to explore the wonders of the village.
Currently In the midst of this joyous atmosphere, amidst the laughter and celebrations that echoed through the Hidden Leaf Village, Kushina and her son, Kaito Uzumaki, moved purposefully towards the familiar sight of the Konoha Hospital.
A couple of months had passed since Kaito first encountered Hotaru Hyuga. They had crossed paths a few times in the playground whenever Kaito found himself obliged to go there. Over time, a budding friendship had blossomed between Kaito and Hotaru.
Over the past few days, a lingering malaise had settled upon Kushina. She had been plagued by waves of nausea, culminating in instances of vomiting that left her drained and weak. The once vibrant woman now moved with a cautious step, the weight of her discomfort etched across her features.
Beside her, young Kaito, perceptive beyond his tender years, sensed his mother's suffering. His little heart filled with both worry and a touch of anxiety. While he harbored a notion of what might be ailing her, uncertainty gnawed at him. His concerns manifested in a persistent stream of questions and gentle nudges, urging his mother to seek the care she so obviously needed.
So, they were on their way to the hospital for Kushina's check-up. Along the journey, they had to make a pit stop because Kushina was feeling tired.
Upon their arrival at the hospital, Kushina was promptly escorted to the examining room. Kaito was then left in the waiting area to bide his time.
"Guess there are some perks to being the Hokage's wife," mused Kaito, observing his mother being ushered into the doctor's room.
Speaking of Minato, he had been concerned about Kushina's well-being. He wanted to accompany her to the hospital, but Kushina insisted that he was busy with Hokage duties and that she could manage on her own. She assured him that she would be fine.
Reluctantly, Minato agreed to stay behind and attend to his responsibilities. He then turned to Kaito and asked him to accompany Kushina. Kaito readily agreed to be there for his mother.
The examination seemed to take an eternity, leaving Kaito with little to do but wait.
Finally, after what felt like an endless stretch of time, Kushina emerged from the doctor's room. Her face was aglow with a radiant smile, and she practically exuded joy, bouncing with happiness.
As Kaito looked at Kushina, he couldn't help but feel that his intuition about his mother's illness over the past few days had been spot on.
Kushina approached where Kaito was seated and warmly said, "Come, Kaito, let's go."
Intrigued, Kaito inquired, "What did the doctor say?" His voice carried a tone of curiosity.
Giggling slightly, Kushina replied in a sing-song manner, "That's a secret, Kaito-kun. I'll tell you along with your father, you know."
That pretty much confirmed Kaito's suspicion, and he couldn't help but feel overjoyed for his parents.
And so, the mother and son duo left the hospital, making their way back home. Along the journey, Kaito and his mother indulged in purchasing various foods and items.
Kushina's joy was palpable, and it was evident in her thoughtful gesture of buying Kaito a pack of raichi. The sight moved Kaito so deeply that he was on the verge of tears. It had been several months since he last tasted raichi, as he had been banned from consuming it due to his previous overindulgence.
However, the purchase came with a stern warning. "You have to ration this for the next week, you know," Kushina cautioned with a serious expression. While she was generally a kind-hearted woman, crossing her could lead to significant trouble.
Kaito vigorously nodded his head and earnestly replied, "Hai."
After purchasing their provisions, they made their way home, pausing occasionally to take some well-deserved rests.
Upon arriving home, Minato greeted Kushina and Kaito with genuine happiness. "Welcome back, you two," he exclaimed cheerfully, as he was in the midst of doing the dishes after preparing lunch for them.
Upon seeing him, Kaito rushed forward and greeted Minato with a warm hug. "Aren't you supposed to be at work, Tou-san?" he asked, a hint of confusion in his eyes.
Returning the hug, Minato explained, "Left a shadow clone... so I can spend some time with you guys."
Kushina joined in the embrace, expressing her gratitude. "Thank you, Minato," she said, her voice filled with appreciation.
they all gathered around the table and shared a meal together. Once they finished eating, Minato turned to Kushina with a hint of worry in his eyes and asked, "So, what did the doctor say, Kushina?"
With a radiant smile, Kushina delivered the news, "Kaito is going to have a sibling soon."
Minato, initially a bit puzzled, soon realized the significance of her words. His eyes lit up with excitement as he eagerly inquired, "You're pregnant, Kushina?"
"I'm pregnant, you know," exclaimed Kushina, her face glowing with excitement.
Kaito beamed, his smile wide as he listened to the news. He had already deduced that Kushina was expecting. Knowing that Naruto was born on the 10th of October when Itachi was 5 years old, and considering that it was currently February and he was turning 5 in August, Kaito figured that this time of year was when his mother would likely become pregnant.
The rest of the day was a whirlwind of celebration and animated chatter about the upcoming addition to their family. Kaito enthusiastically joined in, offering ideas and sharing in their joy.
However, as night fell and Kaito lay in bed, a sense of foreboding washed over him. He understood the implications of Naruto's birth and the potential loss of his parents. This fear lingered with him throughout the night, reinforcing his determination to grow stronger and hoping that his plan would succeed.
