Kaito Chapter 67

Shikaku's eyebrows shot up in surprise. He had suspected all of this but didn't expect Kaito to be so aware of everything. "Then you need to be prepared for what's to come," he said gravely. "Meet me at our usual training ground tomorrow morning."

Kaito nodded. As he body flickered away towards home, he couldn't help but think about how he would break the news to his mother.

….

The village of Konoha was basked in the warm rays of the afternoon sun, its streets bustling with activity. In one of the village's training grounds, Team 11 lay sprawled on the grass, their exhausted bodies taking a moment to rest. Shikaku, their sensei, stood over them with his gaze fixed on the sky, judging the time before turning back to his students.

"Hmm," Shikaku hummed as he returned his gaze to his team, "I think that's enough for today. You all may have tomorrow off." After dismissing his students, Shikaku turned and walked away, leaving his team behind in the training ground.

Kaito groaned as he sat up, "All I really want to do right now is go home, eat, and sleep." He turned to his teammates for confirmation.

Hotaru nodded her head in agreement as she pushed herself up from the ground using her hands for support. Her high ponytail bobbed with each movement as she said, "Hai, I just want to sleep."

Itachi also nodded in agreement as he stood up and stretched. "Hai, that does sound good," he said with a small smile.

Kaito followed suit and stood up, then turned to Hotaru and offered her a helping hand. She accepted it with a soft smile and a grateful "Thank you, Kaito-kun."

After helping Hotaru up, Kaito stretched his tired limbs and let out another sigh before following Itachi towards the exit of their usual training ground. As they reached the point where they would part ways, Kaito and Hotaru looked at Itachi and said, "Well, Itachi. We'll see you the day after tomorrow then." he and Hotaru waved goodbye as they went their separate ways.

Kaito walked Hotaru back home as he always did, as they made their way to the Hyuga compound. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the bustling streets of the village.

Along the way, Kaito couldn't resist stopping at a street vendor to buy some dango for them to share on their journey. As they strolled through the lively marketplace, they chatted and laughed together about mundane topics, enjoying each other's company.

Finally, they reached the gates of the Hyuga compound. Kaito turned to Hotaru with a tired smile and said, "Well, I'll see you tomorrow at the park, Hotaru-chan." She nodded with a smile and replied, "Yes, see you then, Kaito-kun."

With one final wave goodbye to Hotaru, Kaito turned and began walking back towards his own home.

As Kaito made his way through the winding streets of Konoha, his thoughts drifted to the events that had unfolded in the past few weeks. It had been a couple of weeks since he exposed Danzo's possession of the Sharingan in front of the Third Hokage, his advisors, Shikaku Nara - the Jonin commander - and Fugaku Uchiha - chief of the police force. As a result, Danzo received minimal punishment and was stripped of all his posts in the village, placed under house arrest until further notice.

Kaito couldn't help but feel frustrated at the outcome. If it had been anyone else, he was certain the Third Hokage would have immediately ordered their execution for acts of treason. But instead, Danzo was given a mere slap on the wrist. Kaito knew that even though Danzo's power may have been taken away temporarily, his control over Root - the secret organization within Konoha - would remain intact, just like in the original timeline. This thought left a bitter taste in Kaito's mouth.

Kaito, took it upon himself to spread the news using his shadow clones. He whispered rumors about Danzo.

soon there were rumor claimed that Danzo had killed a member of the Uchiha clan for their sharingan, yet he was not punished by the hokage for an act of treason. Kaito insinuated that once again, the Hokage was playing favorites with certain individuals.

But Kaito didn't stop there; he also spread whispers that Danzo was responsible for the vicious attack on the village by the ninetails. According to Kaito's rumors, Danzo held a deep grudge against Minato Namikaze, who had been chosen as the fourth Hokage instead of him.

When Kaito returned home that day, he struggled to find the words to tell his mother about what had happened in the Hokage's tower. Kushina was initially shocked by the news, but quickly turned angry at the Third Hokage for only giving Danzo a light punishment. She ranted about how if Minato were still alive, he would have immediately executed Danzo for treason.

But then her anger turned to worry as she expressed concern that Danzo might retaliate against Kaito. "You shouldn't have done that, Kaito-kun," she said. "He might come after you now." It took some time for Kaito to calm her down and assure her that everything would be okay.

Kaito's thoughts were abruptly interrupted by a familiar chakra signature that he sensed. He muttered the name "Kakashi," his mind racing with curiosity. For weeks now, Kaito had been searching for Kakashi ever since Team 11's failed mission to escort the daimyo to the Hidden Leaf Village.

As he honed in on the chakra signatures, Kaito noticed that Kakashi was with another person and seemed to be in a hurry as they rushed through the village and towards the forest. "Hmm, why is Kakashi worried?", Kaito wondered why Kakashi appeared to be so worried. his chakra was agitated, indicating that something must have gone wrong.

Using kagura's minds eye, he couldn't help but notice that Kakashi seemed to be injured. Activating his stealth seal to remain undetected, Kaito decided to discreetly follow them from a safe distance. Kaito followed them out of the village and towards a pit-like structure where they suddenly jumped in.

"This must be a root base," then Realization dawned on Kaito as he remembered Tenzo's attempt to steal Kakashi's sharingan in the original timeline. His memories were hazy, but he recalled bits and pieces of what happened.

As soon as they entered the structure, their chakra signatures vanished, "They must have placed barriers to avoid being detected," Kaito surmised. Deciding it was best to stay outside and wait,

A short while later, a female ANBU member who accompanied Kakashi emerged from the shadows and quickly made her way towards the village. Kaito squinted to get a better look at her, noticing her distinct purple hair. "That's Yūgao Uzuki," he thought, recognizing her as a few years older than him. He was puzzled at how she had already become an ANBU member.

Seeing her leave, Kaito decided to enter the Root base. As he snuck inside and stayed hidden in the shadows, he observed that the structure ran deep underground with multiple bridges connecting to different sides of it. "It would be a waste if I don't use this chance to gather some more dirt on Danzo," Kaito thought slyly as he created some transformed shadow clones and sent them off to search for any dirt on Danzo.

But before his clones could return, an alarm suddenly blared throughout the base, catching Kaito's attention. Soon, more Root ANBU members rushed around frantically in search of someone. Kaito knew it was probably Kakashi they were looking for.

Sure enough, Danzo himself appeared from one of the entrances connected by a bridge and stood in the middle of the room with his Root ANBU behind him. From the opposite end of the bridge, Kakashi and a brown-haired kid came running towards them. Kaito recognized the boy "that must be Tenzo," he thought to himself as he continued to watch from the shadows.

As he spotted them, Danzo quickly performed hand signs and yelled, "Wind Style Vacuum Bullet!" A powerful blast of wind shot towards the two kakashi and tenzo. In response, Tenzo also executed some hand signs and placed his palm on the ground, calling out, "Wood Release Wood Dome!" A dome made of sturdy wood appeared to protect both him and Kakashi.

The attack hit the wooden dome with great force, causing it to shatter and sending a shockwave in all directions. Tenzo groaned as he was knocked back by the impact, while Kakashi looked around for an escape route with exhaustion evident on his face.

Danzo spoke up, "how good of you to come over form your side, kakashi. you entered foundation jurisdiction without authorization and tried to take one of our own. don't think you'll get off so easily. " He paused as they were surrounded on all sides.

"danzo sama, kakashi isnt-" Tenzo tried to interject but was cut off by Danzo's furious shout of "Silence!"

Before he could continue, however, chakra chains burst forth and wrapped around Danzo's body. At the same time, and a tanto with red lightning streaming through it was held near his neck. A voice growled, "Were you saying something, Danzo?"
