One moment Levi was sitting on the driveway tinkering with a new invention, and the next he was surrounded by darkness.
"Hey! Who cut off the lights?"
Levi felt himself being lifted off the ground and carried. Then he was thrown into something.
A door slammed and he sat up.
"Whoever you are, I demand you release me this instant."
Someone sighed. "Could you have gone for less dramatic? We don't want to terrify him, Toby!"
Elias?"
Levi reached up and tore the bag from his head. A black-haired boy was sitting beside him with his arms folded.
"Elias. Wha-?"
An older boy, who must've been Toby, turned around in his seat to glower at Elias. "This was your idea!"
"Will someone tell me what's going on?" Levi demands."Who are you and why have you kidnapped us? Also, why does Elias have black hair and silver eyes?"
Elias opened his mouth to respond, but Levi gasped and scrambled back against the car door. "Did you...did you capture me so you can experiment on me?"
"No." a man in the driver's seat growled. "Now, can you zip it for one second and let Elias explain?"
Levi looked at his friend. Elias sighed and started talking. He spewed out so much information, that Levi hardly understood anything. When Elias stopped talking, Levi massaged his temples.
"So the big thing is that you guys are dreamwalkers? What's the problem?"
Toby threw his hands in the air, exasperated. "Good grief. I knew coming here was a bad idea."
"Toby, knock it off," Ranger growled.
"Levi, the Ravenous Wolves plan to attack our faction and kill our leader," Elias said.
Levi blinked. "Wait, what?"
Elias ran his hands through his dyed hair. "They're sending the Nightblade Warriors to kill the three of us first."
"Oh. This is bad. Really bad." Levi muttered. "Do we have a plan?"
Ranger raised a brow. "We?"
"Yes, we. I'm helping."
Elias pulled out a piece of paper. "Here."
"This isn't going to work," Levi said. "They're going to kill you before the warriors get here. I'm guessing your parents don't know."
Elias shook his head.
"I figured."
Toby pressed his lips into a flat line. "So what do we need to do genius?"
"I understand we need to tell our leaders, but do you know what's at stake?" Levi exclaimed. "And what of the two factions that plan to attack us? How are we going to slow them down?"
Ranger frowned. "Vanguard of Valor? Wouldn't they offer assistance?"
"No. Our relationship is rocky at best." Elias said, shaking his head. "They'd kill me for saying dreamwalker."
"Hold up." Levi held up a hand. "You?"
Elias folds his arms. "Yes me. You three can stop the other factions. I need to warn mine."
"I won't allow it," Ranger said. "We're not splitting up. We can stop them together and talk to the leaders together."
"But-" Elias protested.
Toby cut him off. "He's right, Elias. We;re in this together."
Levi punched Elias in the arm, grinning. "If that's the case, I've come up with a name for our group."
Ranger, Toby, and Elias stare at him.
"We're the dreamwalkers."
