Kamiyagawa.
Adachi Ward is a suburb of Tokyo and also the poorest among all 23 wards within the Tokyo metropolitan area.
Apart from Kita-Senju station area, which is somewhat bustling, the rest are sprawling areas with low-rise, single-household buildings and small factories.
The Kamiyagawa is an artificial river in the eastern part of Adachi Ward, excavated during the Showa era, initially used for flood discharge during flood seasons and primarily for transporting grain and manure on regular days.
After World War II, Americans replaced the manure that had been used in Japan with chemical fertilizers. The value of "transporting feces" on the Kamiyagawa plummeted, and today, it has been transformed into a scenic river.
Along the coast of the Kamiyagawa, there stood many small factories.
Among them, there were not a few abandoned sites.
