"From deity?"
Having self-taught a lot of folklore in the Outer World and having galloped through the Inner World for so long, Kamiyagawa was clear about the concept of a "from deity."
Like the ones he had encountered before that had divinity within ghost stories—
The Granny of the Mountain, though having her own small shrine, appeared to be a from deity of the great deity Sengen by the shrine's nomination.
There was also the Sea Bishop from the Raksasa Sea, unclear whether it had a shrine, but definitely a from deity of the Seven Lucky Gods.
Bluntly put, a from deity is essentially the entourage of a proper deity.
Moreover, in the texts Kamiyagawa had seen, there was a vague mention that from deities should be able to take a small portion of the worshippers' faith from the incense burned at their proper deity's shrine.
In this way, even if they aren't worshipped by people, they could still receive a bit of faith in the form of "paychecks."
