Kamiyagawa thought this way, completely oblivious to the peril he was in.
After looking around the basement, his gaze suddenly fell on a corner in the southeast.
There lay an old mattress, rotted beyond recognition.
Under Kamiyagawa's watch, a figure slowly emerged beside the mattress.
It was a woman with disheveled hair, wearing a loose nightgown, her protruding abdomen indicating she was pregnant.
The woman always had her back to Kamiya, hunched over and squeezed into the darkness. She stood like that for a while and then, out of nowhere, she said, "I'm pregnant."
"Hmm, I can see that."
Kamiyagawa stood still, nodding his head.
At the same time as he saw the pregnant woman in the corner, he heard the strange noise again.
That dark, writhing, crawling noise, as well as the "crackling" of a harsh groan, rose again from the basement, this time softer and indistinct, making it unclear where it was coming from.
"When I was very young, my parents died."
