So, those things mentioned in the guide earlier... could they just be made-up stories the haunted house organizers use to make the experience more immersive for the guests?

Three college students exchanged a few words among themselves, and then the muscular guy turned his head back to look at the fourth person they were carpooling with: "Hey, little buddy over there."
"Uh, you calling me?" Kamiyagawa stopped his musings and came back to reality.
"Of course, I'm calling you. What's the matter, too scared to speak up?" The muscular man teased with a playful smile and patted his strong chest, "Don't worry too much. We're all here to play the game together, it's fate. Big brother here has been through this haunted house many times. I'll be looking after my two juniors and you as well."
