My own big black dog, sturdy in build and muscular in form, could run at a high speed even when all four paws were pounding the ground. Occasionally doubling as a mount wasn't a problem.
Kamiya signaled the Inugami to crouch down, climbed onto its broad back, and grabbed the tough black dog fur.
"Kenjiro, sniff out Kaku and the Candle-making Monk's scent. Then, let's go!"
Kamiyagawa patted the Inugami's solid behind.
The big black dog, who had been happily wagging its tail, paused for a moment, and its large tail stopped mid-swing; it tilted its head slightly and cast a somewhat resentful glance at its master.
But after being frozen for a second or two, the Inugami still chose to obey its master's command. It took off, paws hitting the dirt along the ancient forest trail.
And it was off like a shot.
Under the astonished gazes of the little Tsukumogami they encountered along the way, Kamiyagawa arrived at Kaku's residence within Tsukumono Village riding the Inugami.
