When Sheng Xian said "brother," it sounded completely different from Lu Jingyan. Lu Jingyan would either be very obedient and sweet or carry a bit of mischief and flirtation. But Sheng Xian's tone was indifferent, and it was this very indifference that made it particularly lethal coming from him.
It seemed a long time had passed, and Sheng Xian saw her squatting on the ground, staring at him with no reaction, so he spoke again, "Aren't you going to get up?"
"Ah?" Lu Jingyan came back to her senses and replied, "I'll get up."
Lu Jingyan pushed herself up to stand.
As she straightened her upper body, a piercing numbness shot through her legs from squatting for so long, and she staggered, almost falling to the ground.
"What's wrong?" Sheng Xian reached out to steady her.
"My legs," Lu Jingyan suppressed the urge to gasp in pain, "my legs are numb."
Sheng Xian handed her the umbrella, "Hold this."
"Why?" Lu Jingyan was puzzled for a moment, then reached out and took it.
