Su Zizhan left the lakeside and didn't linger at Prime Minister Zhao's residence. He didn't even stay for the banquet and soon departed.
Lu Zhiling, filled with resentment, followed Su Zizhan out of the Zhao Residence. As they stepped out of the mansion's gates, Su Zizhan leapt onto his horse. Lu Zhiling mounted his steed as well. Su Zizhan spurred his horse into a gallop, and Lu Zhiling spurred his horse to keep up. Su Zizhan rode out of the city with Lu Zhiling following closely behind.
The two men, one in front of the other, raced thirty li out of the city to the base of Banbi Mountain, where Su Zizhan finally reined in his horse.
Lu Zhiling also pulled up and came to a stop.
Su Zizhan dismounted and sat on the ground, his complexion murky and indistinct in the bright noontime sun.
