Hua Yan fell asleep with pats from Lu Zhiling, and after not sleeping long, pain woke her again.
She opened her eyes to find that it was already late, the room utterly dark, with a blurred figure sitting before her bed, seemingly Xia Yuan. She called out weakly, "Sister-in-law?"
Xia Yuan sprang up, "Awake?"
Hua Yan hummed a response, "Why is the light not lit?"
Immediately, Xia Yuan said, "I forgot, I'll light it now." With that, she walked to the table, took out the flint, and lit the lamp, which used low-quality oil common in hunters' homes, making a crackling sound as the wick caught fire.
After lighting the lamp, Xia Yuan asked Hua Yan, "Would you like some water?" Although she was asking, she had already started pouring a cup of water.
Hua Yan nodded, "Yes."
Xia Yuan brought the water to the bedside, carefully propped up Hua Yan, and held the water to her lips.
