The Emperor looked at Yun Chi and found himself at a loss for words.
His son's persistence in pursuing Hua Yan was apparent to him, to all the civil and military officials of the court, and to the entire world.
He never quite understood, how is it that his son, before the Empress Dowager even compiled the list of eligible maidens, had never met Hua Yan and yet was so insistently set on her?
He looked at Yun Chi and asked, "Tell me the truth, have you met Hua Yan before?"
Yun Chi shook his head, "This prince has not."
The Emperor narrowed his eyes, "Is it because of the Hua Family of Lin'an? What do you intend to do with them?"
Yun Chi shook his head, "No."
The Emperor glared, "What exactly is it? Tell me the truth."
Yun Chi smiled, "Father is becoming more impatient. You weren't like this when you were young, quick-tempered; no wonder you can hardly keep the court officials in line anymore."
The Emperor fumed, "I was looking forward to your return; was it to irritate me?"
