Mei Shuyu felt that Yun Chi, like this, couldn't hold out alone. Unable to betray Hua Yan, he had to drag Lu Zhiling into the mess. Thus, he truthfully and deceptively relayed the bits and pieces of conversation he had with Lu Zhiling on the way, to Yun Chi.
After listening, Yun Chi's expression seemed to darken even further. He sat in silence, enveloped by dense mist, his entire being radiating a chilling loneliness and deathly stillness.
Mei Shuyu watched him, turmoil rising in his heart, wondering just how much the Crown Prince must care for Hua Yan. Could it be that sachet that gave something away? Or that he smelled something? But Hua Yan had clearly said it contained something odorless and colorless!
