Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Attending Class

Adrian stumbled into the classroom doorway, almost completely falling over. 'Damn It' He cursed in his mind. 'If only they weren't so judgmental, all this attentions making me wanna die on the spot!'

"Come in recruit, we've only just been seated, please, find yourself somewhere to sit so that we can get started." The Professor said. His tone calm and full of old wisdom.

Adrian quickly nodded and walked towards the first seat in his sight. A seat right at the front of class.

"Now that we're all seated allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kiran V' Kars, Professor Kars will do. I have one goal for you first years to reach by the end of this term. And that would be 'Coordination.' Now, allow me to begin this class, The Beast Weapon Mastery Class."

Adrian nodded in approval, the way this Instructor conducted himself was much more elaborate and professional than the Instructors at induction. Although his physique was rather plump and over the standard of military personnel he knew that this Instructor had to be quite impressive to be allowed to teach the new generation of humanity Beast Weapons. Afterall, in a few years here we would need to bear comparison with the legend 'Asgold' himself if we were to truly help humanity triumph against the Echelons in the future.

Professor Kars was now done with his introduction and began to go around one by one, to all of the students. Adrian was unsure of what he was doing since he couldn't hear the conversations but he was sure he would get his turn soon enough.

It was then when Adrian began to relax that something hit the back of his neck. His hand instinctively went to rub it, and as he did, turned his gaze to the offender behind him.

To his surprise though, it wasn't just one, it was at leased five people who's glares could kill a man, that man being himself. He supposed it had something to do with the fact that he had chosen the seat at the very front of the class. But when he noticed their glares weren't directly at his one eyes but at his arm he figured something out.

Currently, his watch displayed a large and imposing {1} On its display. Not being able to deactivate them nor change the visibility of your level was possibly Adrian's biggest concern, he knew that the moment the class was over he would probably get jumped.

From behind him he could tell that a commotion was brewing. He turned to face the Professor but he was still quite a while away from getting to him and giving him some reprieve, he was alone on this front.

Adrian turned to face them once more and this time only one boy was there to meet his gaze, the others were pretending to study by the looks of it.

The boy looked to be a slightly more masculine and mature than Adrian himself, and the boy also had a {4.3} Displaying on his watch. Something Adrian could gather due to the boys unwavering arrogance of showing it off, I mean seriously he was practically showing it off like it was a Rolex or something!

After realising the boys power level was much higher than his own his first and most primal reaction was to sigh. He seriously couldn't be arsed with people like this, he could already tell what was coming.

"Oi. White hair, next time the teach comes around you better be quick, if we hear even the slightest thing relating to a cry for help your dead meat got it! I don't think you even realise who's seat your in!" He said, his tone low but threatening. The boy had a wild glint in his eyes that actually unnerved Adrian a little, but after coming to terms with the fact that every bully was basically the same with only minor differences in personalities he no longer seemed to harbour any fear or unease from the 'crackhead' in front of him.

"I will sit where I like, get lost princess." He said nonchalantly. For some reason there were 4 or 5 seats in the front row that hadn't been taken up yet, Adrian had decided to take the one in the centre when he first entered the classroom out of pure practicality, completely aware to the implications of such a move.

Just as he could practically feel the rage and heat rising from the blondie behind him Professor Kars appeared Infront of Adrian's Desk.

"Well young man, how are you finding the academy?" Professor Kars said in a rather welcoming and informal tone. He was quite the cheery person Adrian gathered.

"Well, besides from my Classmate Ryan being an asshat and these three nerds behind me whispering pointless threats, id say rather splendidly! Iv made a friend for life, garnered some invaluable information and met the Instructor I will favour during my stay here. Id say I'm off to a great start!" Adrian blurted out in his most optimistic and borderline cynically positive tone.

The boys behind Adrian looked both stunned, then angry and then fearful in a matter of seconds, this of course was picked up by the Professor who was simply digesting the many implications this young man had spoken of. In the end he was quite intrigued by this kid and a loud and obnoxious bellow rang out, his laughter was harmonious and enjoyable to listen to, Adrian himself had to centre himself from laughing to hard, limiting himself to the mellow chuckles his image demanded at this moment.

Professor Kars looked at Adrian after wiping away a few tears of laughter and smiled heartily. "You son will go far if you learn to fight as well as you speak. Never lose that spark young man, it may one day be the thing that keeps you from perishing in the upcoming war. Although, from a Professional stand point I must ask that you not threaten your life for something as trivial as this old mans enjoyment again." He said with a slight note of seriousness on his face, although when he continued on to another student he gave Adrian a wink and a hearty thumbs up! Adrian's opinion of this man just skyrocketed. What a total badass.

"Your fucking dead." The boy behind him said, and for once Adrian didn't feel a shred of fear, but instead anticipation and excitement.

"I'm a dead man walking, you can't kill what's already dead you idiot." Adrian said without hesitation. To which the blonde boy behind him almost blew his seat in the class by standing and preparing to strangle him, his ever so fake friends though held him back before the Professor had a chance to even change his direction towards them. Though he did notice the commotion, since Adrian's face was not worried he simply smirked and turned back to the student he was addressing.

Adrian from that point on simply ignored those behind him and spent the time waiting for the professor to commence the lesson by checking his status.

"Now class, who can tell me what a beast weapon is forged from. Its most important component." Professor Kars said with a slight gloat in his tone. Though hands did rise, he did not choose any and instead ignored them.

"Do you know young man." He asked in Adrian's direction to which Adrian turned to see if he was addressing the student behind him, but to his shock no, he wasn't. He was addressing him. Adrian shook his head and gave an apologetic look towards the professor.

"Hmm, its a Beast Crystal. Every beast has one." He said, a little disappointed that Adrian hadn't known the answer. For some reason he suspected that the boy was holding back, for whatever reason this was, he did not know.

"Next Question, where do Beasts come from, not their origins, but where, if you were to look for them, would you go at a moments notice." He questioned, this time aimed at the whole class while he himself returned to his black board.

As expected he did not allow anyone to answer his question, instead he let the question sink in and began writing on the black board in front of class. Adrian had realised that what he was spelling out was a little confusing, but he managed to follow.

"Planets." He stated simply. Pointing his finger at the board which now had three different planets drawn along with an arrow from each planet leading to a different colour.

Adrian looked dumbfounded while some others shared such an expression. Most though held their breath, feeling that this class was going to rely heavily on theory. These people already knew what was about to be explained, and had a deep dreaded feeling settling in the pit of their stomachs right about now.

"Now I'm sure some of you know what I'm about to say, but in this class you will come to find-" He pivoted towards the students with a smile on his pinked face. "That we strive to unite humanity, even if that means waiting a little longer than planned to help those around us catch up. I hope I'm clear on this yes?" He said, raising a pointed eyebrow, hiding his inner smile.

The room reverberated with nods of affirmation. Professor Kars smiled lightly and continued on.

"To manage the information we receive from the planets we have access to, we put Beasts into categories based on their quality of beast crystal, we can do that because the quality of a beast crystal is always tied to the abilities, strength and potential of the beast it inhabits."

He made a stride towards his black board and began writing out said categories for all to see while reading them out and explaining them for the sake of the students at the back of the class.

"Beasts with a dirty or clouded beast crystals are Basic Rank Beasts. They can range from the passive squid-like beast {Inkpod} to the highly aggressive and hostile wolf like beast {Grim Hounds}.

When the first layer of a beast crystal is clear and radiates a slight warm light then the core belongs to an Intermediate Beast. These creatures are not to be taken lightly, they are considerably stronger than any Basic Tier Beast and for the sake of my point, you will never find a Basic Tier Beast winning in a 'Fight' with an Intermediate Tier Beast, the ranks are entire leagues apart in every single aspect.

The two tiers Iv mentioned thus far are the two kinds of beasts you will be combatting in your first year. Now before I have any obnoxious hands rising into the air I will say this; Your first Expedition to another planet will be held in 4 months from yesterday. You will be travelling to a Green Rank Planet. Here you will find no beast higher than the Intermediate Tier, human shelters are high in number and the factions of the planet do not conflict to the point of war. These planets have been mapped and are essentially as safe as it gets. As safe as our earth is today.

For this Expedition we will be settled into our teams that were established yesterday, these teams can be changed by spending credits in the Academy Store or via request of the entire team. Now, any questions before I end todays class?"

Multiple hands shot up like rockets but before even reaching their maximum extent Professor Kars had already dismissed the class and strode out of the classroom like a trooper.

A warm and welcome smile crept up Adrian's face, his eyes still gazing off into the archway that acts as the exit to the classroom. He really liked this teacher, and he thought that with time he might be able to learn a few tricks from him if he tried to stay in his good graces for his time here at Westcovern Academy.
