Chapter 4 - Bring Your Son to Work!

The house was dark and silent, except for the occasional snore from his father's room. Hiroshi's giant police officer dad was still in a deep slumber, unaware of his son's sneaky escapade.

Hiroshi's first destination was the kitchen, where he suspected he could find more clues about his new life. With his newfound toddler agility, he managed to open the door just a crack, just wide enough for him to slip through. The kitchen was bathed in moonlight, casting eerie shadows on the countertops.

He took a cautious step inside, his tiny feet barely making a sound on the tiled floor. The refrigerator hummed softly, and the sink glistened with leftover dishes. But what caught Hiroshi's attention was the shiny glass of water on the kitchen table.

He waddled over to the table, his eyes fixated on the glass. It was so close, yet so far. Hiroshi stretched out his tiny arms, his fingers barely brushing the edge of the glass. Beads of sweat formed on his brow as he strained to reach it.

Just as his fingers grazed the glass, a loud creak echoed from the hallway. Hiroshi froze, his heart pounding in his chest. His father had awakened and was making his way to the kitchen for a late-night drink.

Panicking, Hiroshi quickly retracted his hand and ducked under the table. He held his breath, praying that his father wouldn't notice his presence.

The footsteps drew nearer, and Hiroshi's heart raced faster. He could hear his father's mumbled words as he approached the table. The toddler's tiny body trembled with fear as he tried to make himself as small as possible.

Then, as if by some miraculous stroke of luck, his father walked past the table without so much as glancing in Hiroshi's direction. The giant police officer was preoccupied with his own thoughts, oblivious to the fact that his son was right under the table.

Hiroshi let out a silent sigh of relief as his father filled the glass with water and returned to his room. Once the coast was clear, Hiroshi crawled out from under the table and made a hasty retreat back to his room.

Back in the safety of his own space, Hiroshi couldn't help but feel a surge of triumph. He had narrowly avoided being discovered by his own father, a true testament to his ninja-like skills. It seemed that the quest was complete, and his "Supreme Toddler System" confirmed it with a cheerful chime.

[Quest Complete: Baby Ninja]

Reward: 10 XP; 1 Toddler Coin (TC)

Hiroshi grinned with toddler-sized satisfaction. He had successfully gathered information without being discovered, just like a real ninja. With the quest complete, he felt a sense of accomplishment that was strangely fulfilling, even in his tiny form.

Exhausted from his late-night adventure, Hiroshi climbed back into his crib and settled down under his blanket. The soft glow of the "Supreme Toddler System" provided a comforting nightlight as he closed his eyes.

The days that followed were a blur of toddler activities. Hiroshi found himself completing menial tasks and quests that the system presented to him. Whether it was stacking building blocks, feeding his stuffed animals, or learning to walk without toppling over, Hiroshi tackled each challenge with determination.

But there was one thing that consumed his thoughts—the Baby Grappling Hook. It had become an obsession, a coveted item that would grant him newfound mobility and open up a world of possibilities.

As Hiroshi reached his goal of gathering three Toddler Coins, he couldn't contain his excitement. It was time to make the purchase of a lifetime. With trembling fingers and a toddler's enthusiasm, he navigated the "Supreme Toddler System" to the shop.

[Items]

Hiroshi's eyes widened with delight as he imagined himself swinging from the ceiling like a miniature superhero. Without hesitation, he made the purchase, and the system chimed in approval.

[Item Purchased: Baby Grappling Hook!]

Hiroshi's excitement was palpable as he clutched his newly acquired Baby Grappling Hook. He swung back and forth in his crib, feeling like a pint-sized superhero. Little did he know that today would bring an unexpected adventure—one that would take him beyond the confines of his room.

As the morning sun filtered through the curtains, Hiroshi heard the familiar sound of his father's footsteps approaching. His giant dad loomed over the crib with a smile on his face.

"Hey there, champ," his father said, his voice warm and affectionate. "Guess what day it is today?"

Hiroshi blinked up at his father, his curiosity piqued. He had no idea what day it was; after all, he had only been in this toddler body for a short while.

"It's 'Bring Your Son to Work Day' at the police station!" his father announced, his eyes twinkling with excitement.

Hiroshi's eyes widened with surprise and a hint of apprehension. He had been a yakuza boss in his previous life, and the thought of going to a police station was both ironic and nerve-wracking.

Nevertheless, his father's enthusiasm was contagious. Hiroshi was determined to make the best of this unexpected adventure.

With Hiroshi perched on his father's shoulder, they made their way to the bustling police station. The toddler clung to his father's uniform, taking in the sights and sounds of the place. It was a far cry from the criminal underworld he had known, but there was an air of authority that felt strangely familiar.

Before entering the station, Hiroshi's father reached into a bag and pulled out a tiny, adorable police pajama. It was blue with tiny police badges and a cap to match. In a comedic fashion, he dressed Hiroshi in the outfit, making the toddler look like a miniature officer.

"Now you're a little police officer too, champ!" his father exclaimed, unable to contain his laughter.

Hiroshi blinked up at his father from beneath the oversized police cap, feeling a mix of embarrassment and amusement. It was as if he had stepped into a bizarre comedy where he was both a criminal and a cop at the same time.

As they reached the entrance of the police station, Hiroshi couldn't help but wonder how this day would unfold. Dressed in his miniature police pajama, clutching his Baby Grappling Hook, he was ready for whatever absurdity the day had in store.

Inside the police station, Hiroshi's father led him to his office—a room filled with books, case files, and a large desk. He gently placed Hiroshi in a small chair and smiled down at his son.

"I have to run to the restroom for a moment, champ," his father said. "I'll be right back, okay?"

Hiroshi nodded, his mind racing. This was his chance to explore and gather information discreetly. He glanced around the office, his tiny legs dangling from the chair.

On his father's desk, Hiroshi noticed a stack of files. It was a tempting opportunity to dig deeper into his father's world, but he needed to be discreet. He crawled over to the desk and began to examine the files one by one.

After some searching, Hiroshi found a file that caught his attention. It was labeled "Yakuza Investigations," and inside was a list of names, including one that made his heart skip a beat—Kaito, his old friend and trusty right-hand man from his yakuza days.

Hiroshi's mind raced as he tried to formulate a plan. He couldn't let his father arrest Kaito and the others. They had been like family to him. He needed to find a way to protect them without arousing suspicion.

Just as Hiroshi was deep in thought, he heard his father's footsteps approaching. Panic set in, and Hiroshi quickly closed the file and crawled back to his chair. He looked up at his father with innocent eyes, hoping his secret exploration had gone unnoticed.

His father smiled and picked him up, unaware of the hidden turmoil in Hiroshi's tiny toddler mind. As they left the office, Hiroshi clutched the Baby Grappling Hook in his hand, his heart pounding with a mix of excitement and anxiety. In a swift, practiced motion that would have made any secret agent proud, he discreetly extended the grappling hook and gently snagged a couple of pages from the "Yakuza Investigations" file without his father noticing.

With the stolen pages safely secured, Hiroshi quickly retracted the grappling hook and tucked the incriminating evidence under his miniature police pajama. He couldn't afford for his father to discover his secret mission.

As they continued their tour of the police station, Hiroshi couldn't help but feel a newfound sense of determination. He was now armed with crucial information that could change the course of his father's investigations and potentially save his old yakuza friends.

But the challenge had only just begun. Hiroshi had to find a way to discreetly access the information on those stolen pages and make strategic decisions that would protect the ones he cared about. All while dressed in an absurdly cute police pajama, of course.

The day was far from over, and Hiroshi knew that he had to tread carefully in this bite sized world of law enforcement and crime.
