Chapter 5 - Chapter 4.5 Bonus: Assassin for Hire

I wake up to find a boot stepping on my chest that boy did a number on me my head is still pounding from when he hit me with that wooden rod. The person looming over me stood tall I recognized her as my sister Lysandra her boots digging into my stomach. I grunted, "Ah Sis what's going on how long was I out for? Where is the boy?" Lysandra took her boots off my chest she scowled, "He is no longer here moron he left hours ago probably now get up its already 9:00 a.m. We have a business to take care of." I stood up off the ground my sister was also my boss she ran the local gang I was in the Crimson Knives. She was taller than me at least 6 feet tall last I noticed her crimson red hair flowing down her back. Despite her being my boss she was a bit younger than me at 26 years old, but she was fearsome.

Her wild braids flowing down her back she was a strong woman with a toned body, and fiery red eyes to compliment her hair. She mocked, "I sent you here to collect some extra money from a mere runt, and this is the way I find you? Knocked out bloody, and bleeding in some storage closet. I feared the worst when you were gone for hours, but to think I would find you in such a state. This would hurt our reputation if word of this got out, now tell me how did this happen, idiot." I tried not to make her madder than she already was, "I don't know sis he didn't even hit me he just tapped some hammer to my skin, and next thing I knew I was knocked out."

Lysandra grunted, "This wouldn't have happened if you were more careful kid probably used some kind of trick on you. Now look at what you've done I need to clean up your mess again as usual." Lysandra walks forward back to our hideout I follow as we walk I try to smooth things over with her. I suggest, "I can still get him I can take a horse now maybe he hasn't gone far." Lysandra yells back, "He is long gone you fool, but lucky for us I don't think he told anyone what happened, and at this point, it would be foolish to go out of our way to hunt him down." I add, "Are we just going to let him get away with this sis? Nobody else might know, but it hurts my pride..." Lysandra walks into our hideout a few streets over in an abandoned building we make our way underground.

She turns to me her eyes sparking, "You and your stupid pride, but yes dear brother we won't let this rest. It hurts my pride too knowing that a mere merchant knocked out my brother, so as usual I have a plan. We know that little runt was making lots of money in a hurry, but seems he is trying to travel in a hurry too. There are three places of interest he might end up unfortunately I have no idea which one the little runt will pick." I speak up as we enter the base nobody is here since they seem to have other matters to attend to, "So are we out of luck." Lysandra smirks, "Have I ever been out of luck? No, that little runt made a fool of the Crimson Knives I will hunt him to the ends of the world." She throws down a picture on a wooden desk as she says this, I look down to see a woman's face.

The poster has a name on it Era Ashborn the face shows a woman clocked in dark leather armor that surrounds her face. The picture is a well-drawn sketch of an assassin for hire, and judging by the amount she is pretty cheap. I question my sister, "An assassin? Don't they usually cost 1000s of mints? Why is this one only 500 mints?" Lysandra laughs, "I don't care why the important part is that she can present me this little weasel head in a few days for a cheap price. I hear she is one of the best around here, and she is great at tracking her target's movements. She has never failed to make a kill, and we want this little shrimp dead for crossing us." I laugh, 'Yes that is perfect make him pay for humiliating us." We both laugh like old times. Sis then looks at the door, "I have already made the arrangements his head will be presented to us in a few days. Now onto more pressing matters." We both turned our attention to the door we still had people to extort our day was just beginning one setback wasn't going to change that.
