Rod hastily held his breath, but with a flash of Spiritual Light from Lauren's hand, a strong wind rose from beneath their feet, and the poisonous mist was swept away instantly.
"It's really lucky to have Wind Type abilities, but I've set a Mist Lock here. Unless you light up the entire space, you'll never get out. The victor is still me, hahaha..."
Lauren snapped his fingers.
The Spirit Lamp on Rod's waist suddenly burst into Bright Light, and the intense light bloomed like a flower, illuminating the entire warehouse down to the smallest detail.
It also illuminated Bas.
He was on a wooden shed to the slant right, his pale face expressionless, his mouth gaping open.
An odd noise came through the air as if something had shattered.
Bas screamed, rolled down from the shed, Black Blood streaming from the corners of his eyes and mouth. A large clump of mud-like substance vomited out of his mouth and fell to the ground.
"You...you dare...ugh...Corpse Flies, kill them!"
The mud spread rapidly, and dense flies, each with a large green head and pus-filled yellow tails and covered in black fuzz, emerged and swarmed toward them like a black cloud.
However, a bright red beam of light shot from Lauren's forehead and instantly pierced through the black cloud.
He gently shook his head, the red light sweeping across the room, accurately turning all the giant flies to ash.
Even Rod was stunned, especially by that final laser, reminiscent of Er Lang Shen and Ultraman.
So, this is what Fire Spark's abilities are like?
He felt a mix of excitement and fear, and he wanted to make a remark.
But Bas was not in a good mood. Seeing Lauren pointing his forehead at him, he shrieked, raised his hands high, and yelled, "Don't kill me! Don't kill me! I'll tell you everything! On the last day, Grey Cat Ale brought me a box, said it was something the Black Priest wanted to be done. I knew nothing, just placed the box at a designated spot and then left."
"Also, also, on the sixteenth, it was my higher-up, Black Corpse who notified me to escape. He arranged everything for me, the Phantom Talisman was also given to me by him..."
He rambled on, then suddenly noticed Lauren tilting his head as if to talk to the youth beside him, and immediately jumped up, clapping his hand over his chest.
With a loud bang, he split into dozens of Shadows that ran in every direction. His laughing voice came from all around.
"Hahaha! Foolish Grey Dog! Still, I escaped, didn't I? After all, you lack intellect. If it was me, there wouldn't have been so much idle talk..."
Rod saw Lauren slightly furrow his brows, gently tapping his forehead with a flash of Spiritual Light in his eyes.
He surveyed the room, but appeared unable to find the real body.
"Hahaha, this is a High Rank Spiritual Talisman. Your Spiritual Vision is not enough! You can't possibly see me!"
Pfft!
A crimson beam struck a Phantom, but rather than being destroyed, it split into two.
"Hahahaha, useless, Grey Dog, your arrogance will be your downfall. After I kill you and that bastard here, I will get into the carriage and leave Royal City. Your Holy Fire will go out! Light is merely fleeting! Darkness is eternal! How can your ostentatious light possibly comprehend the profoundness of the dark?"
A black skull, seemingly thrown from nowhere, landed and the moment it hit the ground, Mist covered Rod's eyes.
He seemed to enter a pure white space, surrounded by flowing mist. Lauren was nowhere to be seen; he could only hear Bas's ridiculing voice.
"Dog bastard, wasting so much forbidden matter on you, I must recoup from your bodies! Hehe, I might start by tasting that little bastard's brain, it must be very tender..."
The mocking continued relentlessly while various Shadows flitted through the mist.
Rod was alert to the danger, immediately focusing his attention on his eyes while awakening his Spiritual Energy.
When that bizarre energy was awakened deep within his Soul, Rod felt a touch of coolness, like thin ice in summer.
The coolness quickly concentrated on his forehead, and after gently tapping his brow three times, the Eye of the Soul opened.
In an instant, the world no longer appeared blurred. It became bizarre, filled with countless ribbons, specks of light, vibrant blocks of color all jumbled together, dazzling to the eye.
Yet upon closer examination, it seemed there were leads to follow.
Although Rod did not possess the full ability to read it, he could generally discern the anomalies.
Soon, he noticed a black mist light rising from one of the ribbons.
Unlike the surrounding colors, it was a complete Collection, somewhat isolated from the external world, like an independent Spirit.
But humans do not possess black souls.
This certainly wasn't something good.
Rod raised his gun, aimed at the black mist light, took a deep breath, and multitasked.
A new bundle of Spiritual Energy gathered in his palm, under Rod's control it was pressed into the gunstock, and the Spirit Pressure Gauge on the gun's butt rapidly rose.
When it reached the top, a huge burst of Spiritual Light flashed, and a pure white beam shot out like a laser, hitting the black mist light instantly.
A strange screeching sound filled his ears as the black light deflated like a burst balloon, black specks scattering and blending into the chaotic world.
But a portion of the black specks flew towards him, entering his body.
Before he could understand what was happening, he heard two "huh" sounds simultaneously, and Rod felt as if two gazes had turned towards him.
