Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Unexpected News

Janet's POV

It's been almost a month and a half since I started living in the palace, and since then they have been very kind to me, to the extent that I didn't even notice how fast the days were passing by.

The bond of friendship between Daisy and I has been flourishing day after day. We have become very close to the extent that our wolves have bonded, and we can mind-link with each other and also share our feelings.

Sometimes when we go out together for shopping and other activities, people often think that we are sisters, and of course they are right; we have passed the friendship level; we are now sisters.

Meanwhile, Tyler had forbidden me from training in the palace because, according to him, training would only awaken the violent part of me, and he didn't want a violent she-wolf as a mate; instead, he wanted someone who was cool and mind-tempered and who wouldn't incite his Alpha pups to violence.

Well, to be sincere, I only abided by that rule for some days, and afterwards I started again, but this time secretly.

There was a secret passage in the palace through which I sneaked out every night in order to train in the forest, and sometimes I trained with Leroy on the weekends but not in the palace but in the forest as usual.

I never meant to disobey Tyler, but it was too risky for me to entrust my life to his hands.

Sooner or later, Tony is going to come after me, and I needed to be prepared for him, even though Tyler never took his threats seriously.

It was a sunny afternoon, and Daisy and I were in her room discussing as usual.

"Wait, you mean you were already crushing on Leroy even before you discovered that he was your destined mate?" I asked her with a warm smile.

"Yes, of course, Janet, she replied while grinning ear to ear. "And trust me, I wasn't the only one; many she-wolves in our pack were crushing on him too, only that they didn't know how to approach," she said to me while smiling.

"Well, just like you," I said to her, and immediately she frowned at me.

"What? Were you expecting me to tell him that I was crushing?" She asked me with an inquisitive look.

"No, of course, but at least you could have just shown him some signs; after all, he was always in the palace with you," I said to her.

"Well, you are right, but to be sincere, I never did that," she said to me frankly.

"Why? Were you afraid that he would break your tender heart?" I asked with a mocking tone.

"No," she chipped in immediately, and I furrowed my brows at her.

"Actually, I was afraid; my eighteenth birthday was just five months ahead, and you well know that it's at the age of eighteen that the moon goddess reveals to us our mate, so I didn't want to keep my hopes high on Leroy because he might not be the person that the moon goddess destined to be my mate, she explained to me.

"You are right, Daisy, but happily, your patience was worth it because the moon goddess gave you what your heart desired, unlike me," I said with a slight dejected tone.

"Come on, Janet, don't spoil the mood; even though the moon goddess didn't give you what you desired in the first place, at least she gave you a second chance, unlike some Alphas who are still mateless," she said to me, and immediately a warm smile brightened my face.

"I think you are right, Daisy, but tell me, why didn't you inform Tyler that Leroy was your destined mate right from the beginning?" I asked her, and immediately her countenance changed.

"Well, Janet, things haven't always been good in the Moonstone Pack, just as they are today. Things started changing when Tyler was crowned the Alpha. If not, my father wasn't a good Alpha like Tyler; he was very cruel and ruthless, and in addition to that, he was a very powerful and mighty warrior," Daisy said to me.

"Wow, I never knew that," I said to her.

"Did you know that he had the habit of challenging his rival packs to a battle every year, and if you declined his challenge, he would take you by surprise at a time that you didn't expect?" she said to me.

"Wow!" I exclaimed in surprise.

"Back then, Tyler was the future Alpha, and Leroy was his best beta, and my father always forced the both of them to battle alongside him," she said to me, and immediately I widened my eyes in surprise.

"You mean Tyler and Leroy joined your father in waging war against rival packs right from when they were teenagers?, I asked her in astonishment, and she nodded positively.

"Even after the death of my father, some of the rival packs continued attacking our pack because of what my father did to their pack, and in the process, we lost our mother, so that wasn't actually a good time to discuss with Leroy anything concerning my mate," she explained to me with a dejected tone.

"I understand, Daisy, and I'm very sorry for your parents," I said to her.

"Thanks a lot, Janet, she said to me, and immediately we hugged each other.

As we were still locked in each other's warm embrace, someone knocked on the door.

"Come in," Daisy said after we disengaged from the hug.

Once the door cracked open, Tyler walked in.

"Hey Janet, where have you been? I have been looking for you in the whole palace," Tyler said to me with a worried tone.

"Here we go again," Daisy muttered to herself in an irritated tone.

"I'm so sorry, babe. I have been with Daisy since all this time," I said to him while walking to him.

"Hope you didn't miss me too much." I asked him while crossing my hand around his neck.

"Of course I did," he replied while trying to kiss me.

"Will the both of you stop doing that in my room?" Daisy yelled at us from behind with an irritated tone.

"Not now, Daisy; I don't interrupt you when you are with Leroy," Tyler said to Daisy before kissing me.

"Eww, come on, must the both of you do this in my room?" Daisy scoffed angrily at us, but we ignored her while savoring our passionate kiss.

Once we broke the kiss, we looked at Daisy, and immediately she hissed at us before turning her gaze.

"Sorry, sis, but we can't help it; the mate bond is very strong," Tyler said to Daisy while grinning ear to ear.

"Whatever, soon I will leave this palace for the both of you and join Leroy in guarding the borders, Daisy said to us with an irritated tone, and immediately we burst into a round of laughter.

"Babe, I have good news for you," Tyler said to me while sitting beside me on one of the chairs that are in the room.

"Spill out the good news, please; you know well that I love good news," I said to Leroy in excitement.

"I think I have found out in which pack your real parents are," he announced to me.
