Long shiny blond hair, wet and cascading down its small frame, water droplets trickling down to the wooden floor board and purple hued scales that glittered in the ambiance of the moon light.
It's skin was pale white and covered with scale patches and it's eyes a striking shade of blue that seemed to have a tint of purple in them just like it's tail. Despite the people surrounding it, it's eyes were focused intently on the pair of golden brown eyes that stared back at it as if hoping for something to happen.
"What the fuck?" Mitch muttered under his breath when the humming sound stopped, engulfing them in the silence that surrounded them. "Am I crazy or was that thing just singing?"
"Honestly it sounded beautiful." Said the blonde girl with wide entranced eyes.
"Did it come from that?"
"What the fuck is that thing?!"
"Oh shit... I know what that is..." The girl with short black hair said with a tone of disbelief and slowly started to approach the creature. "It's a siren." She said summoning the courage to close the gap between them.
"Aren't they supposed to like eat humans? Hey Jenny be careful." Mitch said with a tinge of panic.
"Woah... I can't believe we caught a mythical creature." Said the blonde
"Turns out it's not a myth anymore since they are actually real." The brunette boy interjected. "What's next? A fairy?"
"I can't believe you can joke at a time like this."
"What nothing serious is even happening."
Jenny approached the merman and slowly raised her hand. It flinched and shuffled away from her but it's movements were restricted by the ropes that stung it's tender scales each time it moved.
"It's okay... we're friendly... we're not gonna hurt you." Jenny cooed as if she was speaking to a lost child. She wore a tender smile and continued,
"Your voice is really pretty and you look pretty too." She placed her hand gently on it's tail feeling the slippery texture under her touch. Her eyes moved along its tail and her widened when it landed on its upper body.
"I heard sirens sing when they wanna hypnotise someone." Mitch whispered to the brunette-haired boy who replied with a look of confusion
"Really? I'm fine though."
"Is it a mermaid or a siren?"
"What's the difference?"
"Is there a difference?"
"What do you think we should do with it? We were the ones who caught it."
Hearing the annoying hushed whispered conversation between the two, Jenny yelled " Can you both shut the fuck up?!"
Her raised tone startled the poor creature and it reacted by going into defence mode. Its scales stood like tiny blades on its tail, injuring Jenny who still had her hand on it.
She winced and pulled her hand away to stare at the small cut.
"It's a boy." She revealed causing another round of silence on the boat as all eyes focused on the creature.
"No wayyyyyy but he's soo pretty!" Whined the blond girl.
"I mean how can you tell?"
"It's upper body, duh." Replied the blonde again matter-of-factly.
"I totally thought it was female! So male mermaids exist?"
"And they're beautiful too, if I was a man I'd totally fall for it."
"What the fuck Rachel." Mitch laughed at her remark.
"I mean it's not considered gay since they don't have a manhood." She shrugged
"I thought they could shape--- WOAH!"
Suddenly a wave from the once steady sea hit the boat causing it to slightly loose its balance. The five of them held onto the railings and whatever was close by so they wouldn't fall. A stronger wave hit them again and the night was filled with the distant cry of a white whale?
"What the heck was that?" Asked a terrified Rachel. She let out a piercing scream when a creature in the water hit their boat with an intention to sink it.
"We need to get outta here! Peter go turn the boat around fast." Jenny yelled and the brunette-haired boy rushed to get it done. The sea creatures hit the boat again and this time all of them fell to the floor as they could no longer stand the wobbly ship.
"I think they want him back." Rachel said referring to the merman in the net.
"Man! I don't wanna drown, I don't wanna die! If that's what they want give him back." Mitch yelled with worry and fear laced in his voice.
Jenny took out a pen knife from her pocket and was about to cut loose the rope when she heard Aiden's deep stern voice slice through the air.
"Don't." He said with so much authority that caused Jennys busy hand to halt. She glanced back at Aiden with a dumbfounded look on her face.
"What the fuck is wrong with you? Those creatures down there are gonna sink the boat if we don't release him-"
"How do you know its him they came for?"
"What are you talking about Aiden, we were fine until we caught him! What do you even wanna do with him?!"
"Maybe its an orcas, who knows? There's nothing that guarantees its because of him."
Jenny pondered on the situation for a split second and finally came to a conclusion. She directed a glare at Aiden.
"Spare me the bullshit, I don't care what you say, I'm letting him go. If we take him with us he'll just end up I'm an aquarium anyway." As Jenny started to cut the ropes, the angered sea creatures hit the boat once again.
"Peter turn the damn boat around!" Rachel yelled already feeling sea sick from the unbalanced movement.
Jenny was about to cut the last rope to free the merman when a strong hand gripped her wrist with so much strength that caused her hold on the knife to loosen. She winced and turned to see who had stopped her. A scowl appeared on her face when she saw Aiden,
"WHAT THE FUCK AIDEN YOU'RE HURTING ME!" Jenny yelled, bending her body in the same direction Aiden twisted her wrist so it would not hurt that much.
"I said don't let him go."
When Jenny eyes met with Aiden's cold gaze, she felt a cold chill run down her spine. His golden brown eyes held malice as he stared down at her as if she was an inferior being. Fear gripped her...
"Okay... okay.. Aiden I won't let him go... please, you're really hurting me."
Aiden let go of her wrist and jenny caressed the bruised area, trying to numb the pain. The sudden shuffling sound beside them drew their attention.
Alarmed, Aiden shifted his gaze to where the merman sat only to see that he had loosened the ropes and was about to jump off the railings.
He did jump, but Aiden was faster.
Before he could reach the water, Aiden grabbed onto the tip his fragile tail. The merman let out a loud scream and glanced up at the man.
As if on cue, his scales rose... tearing into the man's palms. Aiden groaned from the pain but focused his attention of pulling the merman back into the boat.
This did not prove hard as he didn't weigh anything more than 42kg. Aiden pulled him back into the boat and noticed something retreat back into the sea.
He then sat on the wooden floor of the deck with the smaller mermans back against his frame. He locked both of the merman hands in his so he would not try attacking them with his claws. With a swift drift, the boat turned back and headed back for land.
Aidens golden hued eyes focused intently on the slick blonde hair that stuck to his slender pale neck of the man. He held the both of the merman hand in one grip and used his other hand to caress his fair neck. The merman flinched and shot Aiden a sharp glare. Aiden chuckled at this, his gaze softened as he whispered softly into his finned ears, "Sorry."
As he said this, the mermans gaze relaxed and he turned away. Aidens smile broadened an he let out a satisfied sigh... he was glad.
