Chapter 52 - Chapter 51: Ferdiad's Death

(Titus's (Ferdiad's) POV)

"Cu Chulainn, we finally meet, brother," I declared, approaching the knight in the blue outfit, holding a crimson spear at the entrance of the Kingdom of Ulster.

"B-boss? What are you doing here?" Cu, lost in thought, was surprised to see me, passing a bright smile.

On closer inspection, I couldn't help but feel pity for Cu Chulainn. Once a vibrant young man, eager to protect his people and bring peace, he now served as nothing more than a guard dog for his kingdom. With the warriors of Ulster unable to engage in invading battles, Cu was their sole hope in defending the kingdom from Connacht. At the age of 18, he appeared haggard, as though he had aged several years.

I knew Medb was the culprit, but I couldn't ignore that it was my fault for allowing this to happen.

'I'm sorry, Cu, but this is so that you can grow stronger,' I sighed, then smiled. "Well, you know, I've been sent to fight you."

Cu was stunned at my words. "Boss, I-I'm not going to fight you," he said, looking down.

"This isn't a choice but a responsibility, Cu Chulainn," I replied, uncovering the bright spear on my back and unsheathing the sword from my waist. "You knew that a final fight was bound to happen."

Cu widened his eyes but then smiled upon seeing the spear in my hand. "I guess Teach has given you something else as your lover, boss," he remarked, getting up and spinning the Gae Bolg in his hand.

"Yeah, she was a bit persistent, but hey, so am I. It's a little worn-out spear, but..." I smirked, pointing the spear at him. "This is enough to kick your ass."

"Haha! We'll see!" Cu grinned, taking a fighting stance. Suddenly, he noticed something. "Wait, boss, weren't you also holding a sword?"

"I wasn't," I clarified, then kicked the ground. "Prepare yourself for defeat, Cu Chulainn!"

"In your dreams, Ferdiad!"

Our blades clashed with a resounding CLING!

(3rd Person's POV)

Medb, along with all her retainers, observed the intense fight from a nearby cliff. Geis prevented her from invading Ulster directly, leaving her with no choice but to rely on her warriors for Cu Chulainn's demise. Typically, these duels lasted only a few minutes, considering Cu Chulainn's exceptional skill. However, this time, Medb was thrilled to witness such a fierce battle.

Ferdiad, the mysterious warrior who had appeared a few months ago in her kingdom, initially seemed like just another warrior to Medb. She soon discovered her error. Geis, which usually had a tight grip on warriors, had no effect on Ferdiad. Expecting to subdue him, Medb found herself instead pleading for her life. She couldn't fathom why Ferdiad had agreed to fight Cu when he possessed the power to defeat Medb and escape her kingdom, but she wasn't about to complain now.

The clash of blades transformed the entire landscape of the arena. Onlookers dared not blink, eager to capture every moment of this memorable duel. Each swing of the blade reshaped trees and rocks, marking the ever-changing nature of the battleground.

'Ah~! I want a threesome with both of them,' Medb couldn't help but drool.

With each clash of the warriors, Medb's desire to bed both of them intensified. If they were this fierce in battle, Medb could only imagine the kind of passion they might unleash in the bedroom.

Amidst her lascivious thoughts, Medb noticed something amiss.

"Isn't Ferdiad fighting with a sword?"

(Titus's (Ferdiad's) POV)

Cling! Cling! Clang!

In the heart of the battlefield, under the shadow of swirling dust and the distant echoes of clashing steel, the clash between me and Cu Chulainn continued. Gae Bolg and Gungnir met in mid-air, creating a symphony of metallic echoes that resonated through the battlefield.

Our spears locked in a fierce struggle, each of us striving for dominance, a testament to our equally matched skills. The air crackled with tension as we circled one another, eyes locked in mutual understanding. Despite the intensity of our confrontation, there was an unspoken camaraderie, the kind that only existed between true friends.

The midday sun cast long shadows on the ground, accentuating the fluid dance of our lethal weapons. Gae Bolg sliced through the air with a deadly grace, while Gungnir responded with a swift counter, a dance of two warriors entangled in a deadly waltz. The blades clashed, sparks flying, creating a mesmerizing display of power and skill.

"Quite the battle we've got going on here," I said, a grin playing on my lips as we broke apart for a brief moment. Cu Chulainn chuckled in response, the sound merging with the ambient chaos of the battlefield.

"Yeah, evenly matched as always," he replied, a glint of admiration in his eyes. The banter between us lightened the mood, a reminder that, beneath the violence, a deep bond of friendship endured.

The clash resumed, each strike and parry an intricate display of skill. The sound of our spears colliding echoed like thunder, punctuated by the occasional grunt of exertion. The battle reached its zenith, a crescendo of intensity that seemed to reverberate through the very core of the battlefield.

As the day drew to a close, a silent understanding passed between us. With a nod, we simultaneously lowered our weapons, the battlefield now silent save for the distant sounds of war. A moment of unspoken acknowledgment passed between friends, transcending the violence that had consumed the day.

"Huff! Let's call it a day," I suggested, a genuine smile breaking through the fatigue on my face.

"Y-yeah…," he replied, mirroring my smile. And with that, as the sun cast shadows, we collapsed on the ground, tattered and tired.

"Boss… you have become so strong… I am really glad to fight such a fine warrior…!" Cu complimented as he caught up his breath.

"Haha…" I laughed as I got up and looked into the dark sky.

I couldn't tell him that my fight with him was all part of actual human history but I also enjoyed the fight.

Later at night, we patched up each other's wounds and then shared a hot some tea with each other.

"Boss, you know why I am fighting, right? But what is your reason?" Cu suddenly brought a weird question.

"Same as you. For home country." I said and sipped the tea.

"That's a lie. You weren't a knight neither you are or were in any influence of Geis. You also love Teach so I don't think you are fighting for that whore, Medb." Cu explained and really surprising me.

Sometimes I forgot how much he understood me more than anyone else. Yeah, only a man understands a man.

After a minute of silence, I revealed my plan.

"Cu Chulainn, what if I tell you that whatever happened, is happening and will happen, I know everything from the start. Will you believe in me?" I said to which Cu was taken back a little for a second.

Cu smiled, "Yes, if there is any person I could trust than it should only be you."

"Why though? Don't you detest me knowing that I didn't do anything to stop your suffering?"

"Nope, not even a little bit. Whatever is happening or would happen, I am the only one responsible for it."

"What if I betray you?"

"You never will."

I smiled and then sipped the tea. Yup, that's the Cu Chulainn the hero for you. He had the exact iron will of a warrior. His reasons may sound stupid but that's the way to hero.

"Then do you think I can change your fate?" I asked one last question.

"Hmm, yeah, I-I want to live more…" Cu looked down and replied.

He knew that his life would be short but even death would scare him.

"Then keep believing in me. I will do everything just right."

(3rd Person's POV)

Three days had passed since the intense battle between Cu Chulainn and Ferdiad began. The first skirmish unfolded on a plain battlefield, followed by a second at a cliff. While changing locations might seem tedious, Cu Chulainn found joy in sparring with his brother, Ferdiad.

Cu didn't dislike fighting; in fact, he enjoyed it. Yet, months of continuous battles for his country had transformed him into a warrior who, despite his godly abilities, felt a sense of sympathy for his enemies. Cu Chulainn, a demigod, recognized that ordinary humans stood no chance against him. Despite this, Medb, the warmongering queen, persistently sent her men to their deaths against him.

Now, however, Cu Chulainn found satisfaction in battling someone who stood as his equal. Though he had been vastly superior to Ferdiad in terms of fighting talent during his days in the Land of Shadows, Cu Chulainn acknowledged Ferdiad's relentless efforts to catch up. Ferdiad's daily bone-crushing training to grow stronger earned him Cu's profound respect as his foster brother.

Cling! Cling! Right now, Cu and Ferdiad were engaged in yet another day of combat, their blades crashing, echoing through the entire forest. With a bright smile, Cu brought down his demonic spear, parried with equal force by Ferdiad. Just as Cu began to immerse himself in the fight, Ferdiad halted their movements.

"Cu Chulainn, let's stop this and finish this fighting."

"What do you mean?" Cu inquired.

Ferdiad smiled as he spun his spear, now radiating a violent purple energy.

"We can't fight forever, Cu Chulainn. We are not fighting for ourselves. We are fighting for the honor of our homelands."

"No, I can't do this…!" Cu widened his eyes, raising his weapon to kill his brother shook his very soul.

"Yes, you will do this, Cu Chulainn. It is now time for the third and final promise to fulfill." Ferdiad passed a warm smile.

"No…"

"Use Gae Bolg's true power for one last attack." Ferdiad said as he took the stance to throw his spear. The spear on Ferdiad's hand started to emit violent power. Cu knew that a strike from that weapon would be an instant kill.

"Fine!" Cu Chulainn took some distance, jumped in the air, pointed the demonic spear towards his best friend, and called the name of his weapon, "Gáe Bolg!!"

Ferdiad also released the spear without calling its name. Both weapons crossed each other before passing, heading towards their respective targets.

Cu Chulainn, terrified by the incoming attack, didn't attempt to dodge. It was better to receive death than to witness the death of his dear friend. However, the spear that should have aimed at him, the weapon that should have killed him, didn't even touch him. Instead, it passed within a few millimeters before striking and destroying the mountain where Medb and her convoy were stationed. They went crashing down.

Cu didn't have time to worry about them as he ran towards Ferdiad. What he saw shook his soul. There lay his best friend, his brother, the only person Cu Chulainn ever considered family, with a spear tearing through his chest.

"Ferdiad!" Cu cried his best friend's name and ran towards him. He removed the spear and started calling his name, "Ferdiad! Why did you betray me?! Why didn't you aim at me?!"

It was not luck that Ferdiad's attack missed him. No, he was sure that Ferdiad never aimed at Cu Chulainn to begin with.

"Sorry… my friend… but I am too cowardly to raise my weapon against you…" Ferdiad spoke with blood rinsing from his mouth.

"P-Please don't talk… You are just messing with me, right?!" Tears flowed from Cu Chulainn's eyes as he desperately soothed his dying friend.

"No… this is it for me… Just hang in there, buddy… we will meet again…" Ferdiad smiled before his body became unresponsive.

Cu Chulainn, who never shed tears for anything or anyone, silently hugged his dying friend and cried for his departure from this world.

(Titus's (Ferdiad's POV)

Observing Cu Chulainn from a short distance, I couldn't help but witness the heart-wrenching scene where he wept, tightly embracing an empty space as if cradling someone dear to him.

"Isn't that Kyōka Suigetsu from Bleach?" a voice broke through the solemnity, and Scathach casually settled beside me.

"Yeah, but it can't be used anymore," I responded, my hands gripping a katana. Crafted based on Aizen's weapon, I designed this katana to plunge everyone in the vicinity into complete hypnosis on day one. It was the ideal weapon to manipulate the records of actual human history, liberating me from the burden of playing the role of Ferdiad's demise.

Now, I enjoyed a few years of freedom without the weight of altering history. Many, including Medb, witnessed my supposed death, so changing anything was unnecessary. The only drawback was the inability to wield my illusion sword again; it was a one-time opportunity.

As for how Scathach knew this, well, she was reading many manga beside Jojo.

"By the way, I thought you couldn't leave the Land of Shadows?" I inquired, puzzled by her presence. She had arrived silently the previous night as an unspoken observer of our intense skirmish.

"I can leave whenever I want, but only for a limited time, like a month or so," Scathach elucidated, explaining on her temporary departure from her territorial confines. Yeah, she also left for war against Aoife so I guess she could leave her territory for now.

Anyway, we then continued to observe as Cu Chulainn gently placed Ferdiad's lifeless form in the river, bidding farewell as the current carried away the remains of his dearest friend.

"Are you sure about this?" Scathach's voice held a hint of concern.

"It has to be done," I sighed. Deceiving Cu was an arduous task, but it was a necessary sacrifice.

Rising to my feet, I hugged the purple head voluptuous woman to quiet my troubled mind.

"Man, I miss the warmth of my shishou~!" I inhaled deeply, savoring the nonexistent scent of Scathach, my hands roaming over her body. How could I forget the premium-quality ASSets she possessed? Her butt cheeks and thighs were just divine.

"Hm, it's all my body anyway," Scathach pouted. The image of a grown woman pouting so adorably was a sight to behold.

"But wait a second, little brat," Scathach smirked, her hand reaching for my rising of the spear hero. "I heard you visited that whore's chamber. Did she do anything to you?"

Scathach playfully teased, sending waves of pleasure through me. Man, she was just so good with her hands.

"Hmm?" I tapped my chin, grinning. "Can you guess?"

"That little bitch. I am going to kill her," Scathach declared, ready to charge towards Medb's caravan. I intervened, assuring her that nothing untoward had transpired.

"Relax, nothing happened. Only one woman has the right to my body, and that's you, Scathach," I reassured, pressing her body closer.

"These cheeky lines would have worked better if you weren't fingering my holes," Scathach sighed, allowing me to explore her lower body. She knew that I love her body so she let me play a little. "I don't have any tolerance when it comes to my lover."

She became possessive, much like Tamamo and Nero before they yielded to my Stand. I wondered how long Scathach would last.

"I have a use for her," I said, fixing my gaze upon Medb and her men, who were slowly emerging from the wreckage of the mountain. While outright killing her was not an option, a desire for revenge pulsed through me, a means to stir turmoil in Cu's world. So I directed my weapon towards her instead of Cu Chulainn, a calculated move that would undoubtedly grant Cu the time he needed to lament over Ferdiad's tragic demise.

"Let's go home, Scathach." I said as I wrapped my arms around her waist.

"Yes, let's, Titus." She did same to my neck as we grew closer.

Our lips then met in a lingering kiss until a swarm of crows circled around us, and we vanished from the border of Ulster and Connacht, leaving behind the echoes of a tragic.
