Chapter 279 - The Disappearing Viscera

"Coming?"

Gahn looked at the two men who had arrived late with no expression.

"Her Highness, the Holy Maiden, asked me to convey a message to you..."

"If you can't control your woman, the church is happy to do it for you."

The dragon lady beside her, at once, just flinched her head and timidly hid behind Witcher.

Eleazar nodded, "Anything else to say?"

"And just for the record, the next time you make a sudden move, can you squeal to me in advance?"

He pulled a long face and looked super upset.

Eleazar cocked her head, "Actually, it's your fault~"

Garn was filled with disbelief, "What!?"

"Because you changed rooms and I couldn't find you."

"You think I want to change?"

Garn was so angry that he spat out blood, "I knew what you guys were planning to do as soon as you set up the Spiritual Boundary, you're having a good time in there, have you ever thought about the feelings of others?"

Eleazar held his chin, "Why do I get the feeling you need to confess?"

"That's right, you have to repent!"

The dragon lady popped her head out from behind her. Garn's head exploded as he held out his hand, "Stop, I'm not arguing with you guys!"

"Those bodies are going to stink, are you going to see them or not!"

"Go!"

They finally got down to business.

Though Eleazar still doesn't know exactly what case they're there to work on to this day.

Luna's dead weight around him made it impossible for him to find a chance to ask, and he could only vaguely guess from the Holy Gun's last words that it seemed like they were now going to examine the body of a person who had died from a transcendent power.

Neither had any intention of repelling the dragonesses involved.

The fool who clutched the hem of Witcher's coat in a death grip for fear of abandonment probably didn't even realize it...

Her dragonized form, which had Witcher and Bishop running hundreds of miles to capture, already had the capital to gain a foothold in the transcendental realm.

...

The morgue, lifting a white sheet Witcher's brow furrowed.

"What's with the mess..."

It was the body of a middle-aged male as if he had been collected from a pack of hyenas, his entire body gnawed to the point that there was not a single intact part.

Luna just looked at it and turned her head away with a pale face.

The transcendent doctor, wearing plastic gloves, slowly lifted the dead man's chest and described, "The real cause of death was the removal of several vital organs, suspected to be the hook of a demonic sequencer..."

Gahn's brow furrowed, "And were there any other victims?"

"No, that's the only case, so we just suspected, we didn't conclude."

Without a word, Eleazar grabbed the dead man's palm and looked at the congealed blood in the crevices of his nails.

Doc: "That's right, we also suspect that he cut himself open alive with his hands..."

Luna was dizzy for a moment.

The doctor continued to describe the deceased's condition, "This man was a senior stonemason worker, working in a black workshop with unregulated safety measures, breathing in lead fumes and aluminum powder and stone dust all year round, leading to problems with his liver, spleen, kidneys, and a bad heart, as well as a few gastrointestinal problems from his long term nutritionally unbalanced diet..."

"And lastly... Well, all of the organs mentioned above are gone."

Listening, Garn held his chin in thought, "Is there any evil ritual that requires the use of these all diseased organs to perform?"

"What do you think?"

He turned his head to Witcher next to him.

But Eleazar is looking the other way.

"What caused this man to dissect himself, I don't know at the moment, except that there was a force driving him to do so, and then even more coincidentally, I've seen the remnants of that force on other corpses as well."

"What!?"

The doctor and the holy gun were at once overwhelmed with astonishment.

They rushed right over to where Witcher had sensed the anomaly and lifted the white cloth.

It was the bodies of twin sisters, in their early teens.

"These two poor little guys were involved in a traffic accident on their way out of school..."

The doctor's brow furrowed, "But they didn't lose any organs!"

Eleazar took a step back and silently watched the three black auras rising from the morgue.

"Is there any connection between them?"

The doctor who had examined the bodies of the twin sisters one more time looked up.

"Even though I wasn't involved in the investigation of the case, I can guess that a correlation investigation is not usually done in unrelated cases like this one."

Eleazar turned his head to look at the Holy Guns, "One for all?"

Garn looked down, "Okay, then I'll check out the girls' families."

The doctor knowingly handed over a folder, "Here's the background information on the stonemason worker and the general footprint for the month before the accident."

They then split up.

Walking out of that eerie morgue, Luna finally breathed a sigh of relief, then asked in a somewhat whispered voice, "Is this how you guys look into transcendental events?"

"Right."

Eleazar laments, "Most cases are such after-the-fact investigations and then tracing the source."

"It just looks like a lot of work, oh, I'll break you some almonds for your brain later?"

Eleazar gave her a strange look, "Why would you think of food when you just got out of that place?"

"Well, I did feel sick at first, but then I don't know why..."

Luna lowered her head gave him a cautious look and said, "Suddenly it just feels like a bit of a waste..."

"Well, the evil red dragon."

Eleazar commented undeniably, then pinched her face.

"Better suppress those uncontrollable thoughts of yours, or I'm afraid you'll turn into a true Fae before I have a chance to take away the traits."

Luna, however, bristled, "Che, I haven't even promised it to you yet."

In the middle of the street, Eleazar couldn't be bothered to make any out-of-the-ordinary moves, so he ended up just knocking her on the head.

Then, following the clues, he went to the home of the stonemason worker, the location of the outing in the suburbs, the clinic where the other party frequented, and roughly investigated the circle, but found nothing.

Finally, we came to the black workshop that had been labeled with a seal.

Pushing the door open and stepping inside, the two men instantly covered their noses with furrowed brows.

A smell of dust that didn't emanate cleanly at all, and it seemed that the process was still going on before it was seized.

Eleazar began with his senses, slowly scanning the processing site.

"Hmm? Bloodstains?"

Having made some discoveries, he followed closely to the still unfinished statue.

Luna looked up at the large 3-meter-tall statue with some trepidation.

"I feel like it wants to eat people..."

Eleazar pressed himself against the statue and kept sniffing, tracing it to the middle of his abdomen, then sulked for a moment before suddenly reaching out to shatter it.

An intestine, not yet fully coagulated, dangled from the statue's tattered belly.

"It's..."

Luna covered her mouth at once.

All those disappearing organs of the stonemason's laborers are in there!
