Chapter 210 - Sacrifice

Even the way back is blocked. What's going on at home?

Eleazar is shocked and Evelea exchanges a look with each other.

"Don't panic yet, I'll do some divination for you!"

With that said, the witch scurried off to the undisturbed restroom.

Eleazar stood outside the women's restroom and waited uneasily for a moment.

It didn't take long for Evelea to walk out with a thoughtful look on her face.

Eleazar quickly pulled her aside.

"Well?"

"The realm of the dead, meaning we'll surely die as soon as we go back!"

"So... What about her?"

"There's only one silver lining to the catastrophe." Evelea held her chin, "The combined interpretation is that she can still be saved if we don't go back, and once we do, we're all screwed."

Eleazar freezes in place for a long moment and silently lowers his head.

"Well, let's go home first then..."

"Are you okay?"

Evelea looked up miserably.

"I've always found that person to be quite reliable, how about you try trusting her a little more?"

"Uh..."

Eleazar gave a somewhat silent smile and helped the witch put on her hood and sunglasses, holding hands as she slowly walked out of the station.

Evelea deflated.

He was around, but his heart wasn't even there...

Back at the house in Bacchus, the bandaged black cat limped out.

"Blackie, do you know something?"

Eleazar picks it up somewhat silently and gently strokes the fur on its back.

The black cat twitched its ears, and with a bow of its head, it spat out two dark golden crystals in his hand.

"What is it?"

Eleazar unaccountably picks it up and looks at it.

"It's a space crystal!"

"It's a very high-quality customized space crystal!"

Evelea mused.

Eleazar silently sensed it and realized that his spirituality could resonate with one of the crystals.

Attempting to inject spirituality, the crystal then blossomed into a swirling light, seemingly measuring the dimensions of the surrounding area, and then a square, pitch-black room, extremely suddenly emerged in the hall.

"Ah, or unfolding?" Evelea blushed in shock.

Eleazar touched the black facade of the unidentified substance, then slowly pushed open the door to the room to find an extremely familiar field.

"This is... My stash?"

After a long silence, Eleazar put away the space crystal and raised the black cat to his eyes.

"Blackie, can you tell me what's going on at home and how your master is doing?"

The black cat licked its paw, "Meow meow meow meow..."

Eleazar turned her head hesitantly to the witch.

Evelea bristled, "Don't look at me, I don't understand animal language either!"

With uneasiness in their hearts, they spent the night like this.

The next day, after saying goodbye to the fondly remembered witch, Eleazar stepped out of his house and first went to the station to inquire about the route of the railroad tracks, which still had not been restored to service.

Then it was back to campus to yank out Fintan, who was ready to go in the door for class.

"Hey, hey, what are you doing, I have a class to teach!"

"Skip class, something's bothering you."

Eleazar dragged him to an unoccupied stairwell.

"Disappearing for so long without a word, and then bothering me as soon as you show up!"

Fintan wrenched his hand away without a fight, straightened his clothes, and then glanced at the other man.

"What is it?"

Eleazar looks up, "Go find out for me what's going on in South County..."

"That's it?" Fintan looked at him hesitantly.

"That's my hometown, I tried to go back yesterday but found the railroad blocked, I guess something changed..."

Without a hint of reservation, Eleazar said sincerely, "I still have important relatives over there, please..."

Fintan's scalp tingled, "I'm the one who's begging you, can you stop asking me to play with fire all the time, if you're asking me to go to the church to find out what's going on, then there has to be a proper reason to do it wow!"

"Well ..."

Eleazar thought for a moment and said, "So tell me that you accidentally found out about the legend of a hanging island in South County and you want to go over there and investigate."

"Do me this favor, and all of that unsettled bounty from last time will be yours."

Fintan froze for a moment, "It hurts to talk about money..."

Despite his words, the thought of the temptation of 200,000 dollars made him finally bite the bullet and agree to this errand full of risks.

"Don't run around, wait for my news at school in peace, and don't make me go around looking for you again!"

Eleazar nods and comes to sit on a bench by the side of the road, waiting in peace.

Then from the bright day, until the golden light of the sky diffused.

"But that's too long, isn't it?"

He raised his head frequently to look toward the door.

Finally, seeing a wisp of white hair appear out of sight, Finnian ran over with an incredibly panicked look on his face.

"Eleazar-san, run! The Church is coming to get you!!!"

Eleazar swishes to his feet, quickly senses his surroundings, and rushes up to pin him down before his figure takes a flying leap and disappears onto a nearby rooftop.

On the rooftop of a cafe, Eleazar set him down and asked quickly:

"Tell me in detail what happened?"

Finnian looked around in shock and just said:

"My brother's grounded in the church, and we've only exchanged some information through telepathy."

"What message?"

"Your hometown... Crowe Town, no longer exists, where a warlock, and a high-ranking vampire, erupted into fierce conflict."

"Tens of thousands of townspeople all died horribly, and the town was completely razed to the ground, both sides fought to the death, and when the bishop rushed over both of them didn't stop, the vampire who preferred to die was purified on the spot, and the warlock... Was also apprehended, and her true identity is, a freshman in the Astronomy Department of St. Warbler's Academy-Fina..."

"Your childhood friend is a warlock? My brother, he said he was killed by you..."

Eleazar's head went blank for a long moment of silence.

"Well, thank you..."

Finnian pushed him, "Don't you daze, run away quickly, ships are going abroad at night in Silvermoon Harbor, they are ocean trading ships, here's this check for you, go abroad and get on your feet first."

Eleazar looks up as if he's crying or laughing.

"I'm really happy to know friends like you guys..."

Finnian craned his head to look at the end of the street, and in a hurry, he crouched down and nudged him.

"Hey, why are you being so bitchy, get outta here!!!"

Eleazar slowly closed the palm that had handed out the check.

"No, keep it to improve your life..."

Eleazar said in a low voice:

"Can you do me one last favor?"

"What favor?"

"Go to my rental house and help me take that black cat inside, and by the way, notify that person inside and tell her to run as far away as she can ..."
