Chapter 111 -  The Soul That Never Rests in Peace

Having defeated the Witcher, the Witch hums an unspecified song in triumph and digs happily for mushrooms near the cave entrance.

"Spring ~ summer ~ fall ~ winter, the seasons flow, two months and 20 days a year ~"

...

Eleazar and the Knight walk in to investigate the cause of the demon spirit's revival.

The cave wasn't very deep, just a tunnel of less than a hundred meters, with various goods piled up at the end.

Quieting his cluttered mind, Eleazar quickly got into the swing of things.

"Kind of like a bandit camp..."

Fintan frowned as he pushed a box open, "You mean these are stolen goods?"

Eleazar steps up and rummages around for a moment as well.

"Gold and silver jewelry and jewels of average fineness, furs, grains, spices, wood, iron ingots... These guys really come and grab everything."

Unfortunately, there is no transcendental material...

Eleazar is not the least bit interested in these common possessions that may be cursed.

Then, out of the blue, they turned up a huddled skeleton in one of the crates.

Fintan's classmate's hand froze outright.

Eleazar squeezes him out of the way and crouches down to scrutinize him for a moment.

"Pelvic exostosis, um... It's a female who has given birth, with large cracks in the ribs of the chest cavity, suspected to have suffered from heavy weight accumulation before death, half-fracture of the wrist bones, her hands were bound, she should have been struggling desperately at that time..."

Fintan was silent for a long time, "She's a demon spirit?"

"No..."

Taking a look with his senses, Eleazar stands up.

"I think it's her child..."

Fintan: "..." "Out on a trip or something, anyway, they were confronted by robbers, the child was secretly stuffed into a box by the mother, and although he survived, he was also unfortunate enough to see a scene of his mother being abused, and it's possible that the robbers found him at the time, and deliberately applied all sorts of stimuli, and the child couldn't break free, and after being smothered alive, the hatred was completely unleashed... "

As he speaks, Eleazar walks over to a nearby suitcase that's been weighted down with heavy objects, removes the tops, carefully flattens it, and opens it...

"Well, yes, he was here."

An even thinner skeleton, age estimated to be around 10 years old, a boy.

The knight on the side had clenched his fists.

Eleazar's emotionless words continued, "Keep looking, see if there's anything else."

Finally, they searched the pile of stolen goods thoroughly.

"No other bodies were found..."

Eleazar mused for a moment and said lightly, "It seems the gang ran off first thing when they realized it was haunted, and even had the energy left over to blow up the cave entrance with gunpowder."

Fintan asked in a hushed voice, "Can you find those people out?"

"Of course, go back to the town and go through the files, investigate all the unsolved cases from ten years ago, and you're sure to find traces of this gang of robbers."

How long would that take to find out? He wanted to bring that gang to justice today!

Fintan slowly lowers his head, "What about... What about abnormal pathways..."

Eleazar smiles faintly and points to the entrance of the cave, "Help that man finish picking mushrooms, then go wait for us outside."

Fintan understood at once that they were preparing to desecrate the bones with their evil powers.

But there was nothing one could do at all but to go and finish picking this transcendental material called 'Ghost Mushroom' for the girl named Evelea, and then walk outside the cave entrance.

Looking at the green fire reflected in the cave, the transcendent spirituality that surged out madly, he raised his head silently.

[Your righteous fists can't defeat evil]

[It is not good that can stand against evil...]

[It's absolute evil that's darker than evil!]

"No, it's wrong! Sooner or later I'll prove it to you..."

Fintan gripped his steel sword tightly and dropped to one knee toward the sunrise, hanging his head, eyes squeezed shut.

In the cave, Eleazar is having a discussion with the Witch.

"No sign of activity, hmm... It's a nighttime demon spirit."

"So it's going to wait until night? We're spending the night over here!"

Evelea's eyes became watery again.

"No, it's best not to fight, beware of your sequence being guessed by a knight."

Evelea deflated, "So did you find this demon spirit's grudge? Is it a physical object or a remnant?"

"Revived here in the cave, but with no parasites, it should be a remnant."

"Wow, another one of these hardest ones~"

Thinking back to the scenario he had extrapolated, Eleazar let out a small sigh.

"What kind of complicated mind can a little kid less than 10 years old have..."

"I'll try it then." The witch held the crystal ball and divined for a moment.

"Hmmm, what a dense residue, thanks to the fact that this place is blocked off all year round."

So she unleashed her spirituality and tried to seduce.

"Come! Cry out, your unwillingness, your supplications, wander here, souls that never rest!"

The unique spirituality of the witch was slowly consumed by a shadowy force, and then, if anything, a hiss echoed through the cavern.

"Together..."

"Mom..."

"Where are you..."

Evelea covered her head that consumed an empty one, "How about a surprisingly simple wish, even though the mutation was provoked by the atrocity, in the end, she just wanted to be with her mother."

Eleazar held her up and said lightly, "Which means that by burying them together you can release the remnants."

"Well, it's easily solved, so do you want me to continue divining other clues?"

Eleazar lowered his gaze, "Continue."

...

After a long time, they stepped out of the cave and looked at the knight who was meditating on his knees against the sun.

Without waiting for them to make a sound, Fintan slowly opened his eyes.

"Well?"

"The woman's name was Anneliese..."

"And?"

Eleazar pulled out the woman's skull.

"For the rest, she will guide us."

Fintan subconsciously gripped the hilt of his sword and tried to hold back for a long time before quelling the urge to slice him to death with a single stroke.

"Now... We're leaving?"

"Well, by the way, take them back for burial."

Eleazar hands the knight a crate containing the woman's bones, and he himself drags the suitcase containing the remains of the demon spirit.

The pile of loot left in the cave was of little interest to any of them.

Neither has superb material nor is it worth a few bucks.

That pile of stuff might have been worth something in the past, but not in the present, and the value could be imagined if even that group could hold back from coming back for it.

Down the hill and back into town.

Fintan goes to the police station to investigate the name Aneris, while Eleazar and Evelea arrive at the cemetery and simply place the two bones first.

"Well, once we've sanctioned the murderer and given you back your head we can have the funeral, let's hope Mr. Knight finds your loved ones to come and pay their respects."

Eleazar looks faintly at the two bones nestled together in the mound.
