This place is called the Plains of Taotu, shielded within the Yin Mountain range from the cold tides. It seemed due to the presence of steamy hot springs and active volcanic geography, the land was evergreen, the soil never frozen, making it one of the few pastures on the ice fields suitable for wintering. Initially, this was where the northern herds of horses gathered to spend the winter, thus the name Taotu derived from this.
Legend has it that the ancestors of the Hu Lu tribes once made a blood pact with the kings of Taotu horses, which allowed them to roam the Yin Mountains and occupy the northern plains, at one point establishing a powerful tribal alliance with its unique cultural heritage, holding its own against the civilization of the Central Plains.
