The excessive weathering was caused by a type of fungus. Under the golden glow of the setting sun, these fungi shimmered with a special brilliance, as if covered with a golden dust filter.
Looking around, the entire street was covered with these fungi of all sizes, capable of appearing on any object and rooting themselves onto anything.
The fungi were similar, yet also dissimilar, generally displaying a silver-gray color, but the patterns on them varied to some extent.
Some were blue, some were green, and others were red.
